Business Manager at HOPAC
THIS NEED IS FOR JANUARY 2025
Job Summary/Objective:
The Business Manager is responsible for development, direction and
administration of all financial affairs, financial planning, facilities
and maintenance resources, human resources, services, and activities of
the school both working with the school director and administration
General Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Head of School, the Business Manager shall be
responsible for the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Planning
-Assists in formulating the school’s future direction as it relates to financial operations.
-Works with the Head of School in developing the school budget.
-Monitors and directs the implementation of strategic business plans.
-Develops financial and tax strategies.
-Manages the capital request and budgeting processes that the NICS/Oasis organization requires.
-Develops performance measures that support the organization’s strategic direction.
-Participates in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.
Accounting
-Manages the accounting and operations departments within the school in
the areas of accounts receivables, accounts payables, purchasing,
inventory control, banking activities, and payroll and benefits
programs.
-Manages any third parties to which functions have been outsourced, this
would include the services of outside accounting and/or legal services.
-Oversees the school’s transactional processing systems.
-Implements operational best practices.
-Secures and manages the audit process and investigates their findings and recommendations.
-Oversight of monthly and annual financial reports
-Reviews and analyzes monthly and annual financial reports before submitting to the director to be sent to the NICS home office.
-Helps with internal audits conducted by the NICS comptroller
-Oversees annual audit with third party professional services
-Helps prepare formal responses to internal audits and follows up on
implementation of internal and outside audit recommendations.
-Manages any third parties to which functions have been outsourced, this
would include the services of outside accounting and/or legal services.
-Secures and manages the audit process and investigates their findings and recommendations.
-Monitor Haven of Peace Academy compliance with all Tanzania laws,
ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies
are met.
Finances
-Helps to determine the amount of available funds which can be invested
while maintaining adequate checking account balances to meet current
disbursements,
-Responsible for monitoring reserve funds and ensuring compliance with
school policy in relation to the total amount of funds in a fixed
accounts.
-Reivews financial information and data to insure healthy indicators in
the areas of Liquidity, Debt Leveraging, Efficiency, and Profitability
-Works with the accounting department in the preparation of the school’s financial statements.
-Maintains cash flow projection reporting.
-Reports financial results to the NICS/Oasis organization and any subsequent local boards, foundations, committees, etc…
-Arranges for debt and equity financing when needed.
Risk Management
-Understands and mitigates key elements of the school’s risk profile.
-Monitors all open legal issues involving the school, and legal issues affecting the education industry.
-Constructs and monitors reliable control systems.
-Maintains appropriate insurance coverage.
-Ensures that the school complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
-Ensures that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
-Reports risk issues to the NICS/Oasis organization and any subsequent local boards, foundations, committees, etc…
Annual School Budgets and Student Enrollment
-Assists in formulating the school’s future direction as it relates to financial operations.
-Helps to monitor procedures to be used by the Head of School in the preparation of the annual budget.
-Develop budgetary scenarios that include formulation of annual income, investment and expenditure targets.
-Serves on the Tuition Assistance Committee to help determine scholarship needs.
-Develops financial and tax strategies.
-Reviews proposed and final budget reports with the Head of School.
-Oversight and responsibility for revenue and expenditure projections.
Leadership
-Safeguard the interests of the school’s partner organization (Network of International Christian School) and her mission.
-Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy,

punctuality.
-Maintain a close personal walk with the Lord evidenced by his/her

The Counselor role is a crucial one in terms of assessing students,
families providing emotional and learning support, and advising school
leadership on bigger picture issues relating to student emotional health
and safety. The Counselor is responsible for actively engaging students
(K-12), staff and the wider school community in promoting a positive
learning environment within the school by providing mental health
services that are in line with the school’s Christian worldview.
Learning support department working with the counseling department has
