We are currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Finance Assistant at our facility, The successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager and will be responsible for a range of finance and accounting duties.

Overall Purpose of the Position

The Finance Assistant will perform office accounting and finance duties under the supervision of management. The role ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the organization’s financial processes, contributing to accurate financial management and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage cash book, requisition, disbursements, surrender, reimbursement, and banking as per SOP. Perform bank reconciliations. Post supplier invoices. Handle supplier statement reconciliations, payments, and filing of documents. Prepare payroll deduction schedules and process payments. Manage accounts receivable and raise recharge invoices once approved.

Perform fixed assets accounting. Reconcile and file VAT, withholding tax, and withholding VAT returns. Update and make accruals and provisions at month-end as necessary. Assist in month-end reporting and analysis. Support all audit processes. Adhere to all health and safety SOPs. Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Required Skills and Competencies

Customer-driven attitude. Profound knowledge of financial accounting and payables management. Understanding of Financial Shared Service Centre concepts. Knowledge of freight forwarding is an added advantage. Highly organized, flexible, proactive, and detail-oriented.

Proactive team player with strong attention to detail and quality. Self-driven and achievement-oriented. Strong understanding of business processes and interdependencies. Ability to work under pressure. Strong communication skills (both written and oral).

Educational Background & Work Experience

Holder of a business-related degree and/or CPA qualification. Basic computer knowledge and experience with related applications. 3-5 years of hands-on experience in finance and accounting.

Experience in analysis and reconciliations, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Proven problem-solving and creative skills with sound judgment for decision-making based on accurate and timely analysis.

Language Skills

  • Experience in communicating within diverse cultural or work environments preferred. Fluency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
  • Ability to explain complex technical and procedural requirements in straightforward language.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft® Office Software (Excel®, Word, PowerPoint®, etc.).
  • Experience with accounting packages such as Navision, SAP, Oracle, SAGE, etc., is an advantage.
