The position
Aga Khan Education Service, Tanzania (AKES, T ), is a private, not for profit, service company registered under the Companies Act and operates three schools in Tanzania offering the International Baccalaureate PYP/ Diploma Programme, Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum grades 7 -9, IGCSE at Grades 10 and 11 and the National Curriculum from Form 1-4.

- Head of School –International Curriculum IB and IGCSE
Position Summary
The Head of the school will be a visionary leader who will
exercise ethical and moral leadership to develop the school into a
School of Choice in Dar es Salaam, improving the positioning of the
school in the market by enhancing academic, co-curricular, sports and
leadership programmes as well as developing a school culture that
emphasizes ethics and values, pluralism, spirituality and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Vision and Strategic Plan
Develop a vision that is commensurate with the mission of AKES, T,
the vision of His Highness for education, and that encompasses the
profile of top schools globally.
Standards and Quality Control
Ensure that an appropriate Schools Quality System is in place, as
well as a system for assessing the school’s quality periodically, and
processes for improving Schools Quality.
Marketing
Develop a marketing strategy to build up an excellent public
image, promote healthy competition with the school competitors and
ensure the Aga Khan School is positioned as a School of Choice and
Excellence in Tanzania.
Instructional Leadership
Lead the school to develop contemporary pedagogical practices in
the teaching faculty and professional learning community and being
renowned for inquiry-based, student-centred and imparting 21st-century
skills in students
Curriculum and Instruction
Lead the school in the running of IB and IGCSE curricula, enabling the school to become a model school.
Exam Conduct and Results
Ensure that the external examinations are held according to the regulations of the various examining bodies.
Schools’ ethos.
Develop and foster school ethos of pluralism, discipline,
achievement, ethics and spiritual wisdom ensuring the school values are
promoted and inculcated in the school community.
Student Tracking and Support
Ensure systems are in place for tracking individual student’s
progress and identify areas where students need additional support to
ensure “no child is left behind.
Student Discipline
Ensure proper processes are in place to maintain student
discipline and school values and ensure that cases of student
indiscipline are handled promptly and fairly.
Staff Management, Appraisals, Compensation and Professional Development
Ensure staff policies and procedures are adhered to, performance
appraisal and individual and collective professional growth plans are
implemented.
Budgeting and Finance
Ensure school operations are managed within the financial budget
for the year and abide by the financial policies and procedures of AKES,
T.
The requirements

Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience:
- Completed Master’s degree in Education from a reputable, accredited university;
- Relevant experience with the International Baccalaureate Curriculum Diploma Programme and / or the IGCSE
- At least five years’ experience, with demonstrable achievements of leading a Grade 6,7 -12 reputable international school
- Having experience in leading an intense school improvement and change process.
- IB training done over the past 2-3 years related to leadership, management and evaluations
- IB training is done over the past 2-3 years for the programme leader
- A credible IBEN member
- Proven track record in the effective and efficient management of fiscal and human resources
- Excellent team-building skills, with proven experience in leading, motivating and empowering teams.
- Experience in the African context is desirable
