Purpose of Role
This role is to manage day to day Imports and Exports, Border and Tax clearance for both Materials and Finished goods operations in specific markets in Africa, partnering with Tax Authorities, Regulatory bodies, Clearing Agencies, and transporters (3PL).

Top 3-5 Accountabilities
- Manage the customs related activities for imports and Exports of finished goods as forecasted by PLAN.
- Manage, direct, and advise (where necessary) the entire imported inbound customs process for raw/pack materials, Point of Sale, spare parts and any other imports.
- Ensure that all imports and 3rd party partners involved, meet the required regulatory requirements, meet the legal requirements of the different countries and are compliant to Diageo policies. Including proper document filing.
- Tax Clearance – Prepare an imports financial forecast to facilitate treasury in Cash flow Management (Working Capital Management) and Gross Payment Account (GPA) specifically. Also requisition for and monitor the GPA balances. Establish and monitor a Customs Bond account where necessary to track returnable containers or items (eg Glass) across national borders that are not taxed but netted off on return.
- Establish and maintain competitive freight rate cards that are favorable to the business needs and ensure Landed cost falls within AOP.

Qualifications and Experience Required
- A bachelor’s degree and/or professional certification in Supply Chain or Business studies.
- 3 or more years exposure in the clearing and forwarding environment (preferably in Africa) with Detailed import / export knowledge (FMCGs added advantage).
- Experience of formalized process design and maintenance
- Awareness of security, C&E, and insurance policies and practices
- Awareness of audit techniques and methodology, BCP and risk management techniques
- Influencing and leadership skills and good command of English (written and spoken)
