Job Overview:
The Relationship Manager for the Indian Desk will manage and grow a portfolio of clients of Indian origin or those with significant business interests in India. The role requires a deep understanding of the Indian market, culture, and language, and involves providing tailored banking solutions to meet the client’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients within the Indian community and businesses with interests in India.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring high customer service and satisfaction.
Business Development:
- Identify, initiate, and negotiate SME and Corporate business opportunities with new and existing clients to grow the business portfolio, deposits, interest, and non-interest income in line with the bank’s annual targets.
Financial Solutions:
- Provide clients with comprehensive banking services including loans, deposits, trade finance, foreign exchange, and investment products.
- Customize financial solutions to meet the specific needs and goals of clients.
Cross-Selling:
- Collaborate with other departments to cross-sell a wide range of bank products and services.
- Leverage internal resources to provide integrated financial solutions.
Risk Management:
- Conduct thorough due diligence and credit assessments to ensure sound risk management practices.
- Monitor the financial performance of clients and take proactive measures to mitigate risks.
Compliance:
- Ensure all transactions and client interactions comply with bank policies, regulations, and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements.
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes and ensure compliance with local and international banking laws.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise and build rapport with various stakeholders such as clients, government institutions, and other financial institutions to represent and safeguard the bank’s interests and image.
Reporting:
- Prepare regular reports on client activities, market conditions, and business development efforts.
- Provide updates to senior management on Indian portfolio performance and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. MBA or relevant professional certification is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in relationship management, corporate banking, or a similar role.
- Proven track record in managing a portfolio of high-net-worth clients or corporate clients, particularly within the Indian market.
