North Mara started commercial production in 2002. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits, Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure total compliance/adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintaining, repairing mechanical issues, Diagnostics / Fault Finding and Routine inspection on a variety of machines both mobile and fixed.
  • To carry out preventative maintenance & repairs and provide accurate and timely feedback to the mechanical First Line Leader on conditions that may affect asset’s functionality.
  • To ensure that the first line leader and all stakeholders are kept informed on equipment availability status.
  • Work closely with planned maintenance department to do planning, root cause analysis, ordering and maintenance optimization to increase engineering availabilities.
  • Display a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of critical equipment’s.
  • Contribute to the Operations by ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and completed in a cost-effective manner with minimal disruption to ore mining activities.
  • Carry out tactical plan projects as designated within the maintenance section tactical plans.
  • Be involvement where requested at various sites meetings.
  • Identify and rectify/report specific hazards using Job Safety Analysis process.
  • Report Environmental incidents and non-compliances.

Qualification requirements

  • A relevant Mechanical Engineering degree is required, together with current registration with Tanzania Engineering Registration Board as a Professional / Graduate Engineer.
  • Ability to drive or operate LV and or machinery – Driver’s License.
  • Should be a graduate 2022 to 2023 in Mechanical Engineering

Experience and Competencies needed.

  • Any practical experience in Mechanical Field would be advantageous.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5

Qualification requirements

  • A relevant Electrical Engineering degree is required, together with current registration with Tanzania Engineering Registration Board as a Professional / Graduate Engineer.
  • Should be graduate of 2022 to 2023 in Electrical or mechanical electrical maintenance engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Sound knowledge of CMMS, plant, equipment, Barrick standards, including engineering change management, and statutory requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical electrical maintenance engineering and condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis, hydraulic / lube / transformer oil analysis, thermographic analysis, electrical protective systems and electrical motor / generator windings’ maintenance and testing.

  • Perform basic mechanical fitting, rubber lining, scaffolding and rigging works as instructed by your supervisor.
  • Clean equipment, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents to ensure equipment or work area remains clean and tidy.
  • Clean, maintain, repair and rebuild mechanical parts, components and equipment as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Conduct regular plant and steel structures inspections.
  • Complete breakdown and preventive maintenance work orders on time, create subsequent notifications, and provide feedback on work performed.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies then organize with supervisor.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Responsible for shift handover at area of responsibility.

Qualification requirements

  • Secondary Education.
  • Technical/ Vocational School, Apprenticeship training, on-the-job training (FTC, VETA, IMTT Trade Test or its Equivalent).
  • Sound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.
  • Certification in air conditioning systems repairs.
