Sokoine University SUA Jobs April 2024:The Ministry of Livestock and
Fisheries (MLF) in Tanzania and Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)
are working together to conduct a cooperative research project on
antimicrobial resistance solutions in commercial poultry. The Danish
organization International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions
(ICARS) is providing funding for the initiative, which is scheduled to
run through December 2027. The project is strategically split into two

subject areas: “Mitigating Spread of Antimicrobials and Resistant Microbial Pathogens and Genes Through Treatment of Manure” and “Vaccination and Biosecurity Regimes to Enhance Fight Against Antimicrobial Resistance.”
POSITION: Research Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM) with overall performance of ≥B from a recognized Institution
• Experience of working in one health or eco-health veterinary related projects using implementation research approach
• Basic knowledge and experience in project management as an added advantage
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities
• Basic knowledge and skills in applied statistics and statistical packages as an added advantage.
• Strong sense of responsibility and organizational skills
Work experience:
- Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health (basics)
- Project management (basics)
- Poultry diseases and/or biosecurity management
NOTE that for those who studied abroad, must attach the verification certificates from Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Coordinate and facilitate implementation of projects with guidance from the project coordinator
• Facilitate and get involved in data collection, analysis publication.
• Conduct research projects with guidance from the project coordinator
• Write the project reports
• Manage relevant documentations for ICARS projects
• Prepare and Monitor time-schedules for various project activities.
• Organise project events (including meetings) in consultation with Project coordinator.
• Prepare Meeting agenda and protocols in close collaboration with the project coordinator.
• Monitoring of Project level time schedules (including reporting deadlines) and provision of timely reminders.
• Assist in the monitoring the project performance to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
• Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the project coordinator.
Salary As per treasury Registrar’s Salary Circular No 6 of 2022, Age Not above 45 years old.
