Amani Centre for Street Children is a nationally registered NGO headquartered in Moshi, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Amani is seeking to fill the following vacant positions with dynamic individuals to work with street-connected children and youths in Moshi, Arusha Singida, and other neighbouring regions.

Position Title: Assistant Accountant (1 Position)

Duty Station: Moshi Kilimanjaro

Reporting to: Senior Accountant

Responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

  • Offer technical support to the senior Accountant in coordinating and supervising all financial functions of the Organization.
  • Prepare all financial request from employees and verify them before submitting them to the senior Accountant or COO for payment.
  • Receive and verify expenditures and ensure proper documentation before posting and filing any expenditure.
  • To post all financial expenditures from the departments
  • To prepare and submit monthly payrolls and submit them to the senior Accountant and COO on time and professional manner.
  • To ensure compliance with Procurement guidelines as per Amani Centre for Street Children requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree holder in Accountancy, Financial Management or Business administration from a recognized institution.
  • Work experience in donor funded projects at least for 3 years.
  • Computer literacy in Word, excel and email software
  • Experience in using accounting packages softwares.
  • Willingness and ability to safeguard youth and children right is compulsory
  • The selected candidate in this position will be based mostly in Moshi and partially give support at Amani Arusha.

Admin Assistant: (1 position)

Duty Station: Amani Centre for Street Children Arusha

Reporting to: Amani Arusha Program Coordinator.

Position Description:

The selected candidate in this position will work hand in hand with the programme coordinator and the Amani senior accountant to perform various administrative and operational activities, including handling petty cash, purchasing, managing a small store at the Centre, and assisting in personal routines. His or her job description will also entail a small component of monitoring and evaluation activities.

Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Business Administration, HR Management, Procurement, Accountancy, or any other related field; proven ability to work under minimum supervision; Fluency in oral and written English and Swahili languages, Proven abilities to work on computers, especially Word and Excel, commitment to children’s rights, Participation and empowerment Willingness to learn, improve, and be open to criticism, and readiness to accept other official routines.

Teachers (3 positions).

Duty station: Moshi (1), Arusha (1), and Singida (1)

Reporting to: Project Coordinators in Moshi, Arusha and Singida

Position Description:

The selected candidates will be responsible for teaching primary-level subjects. Prepare and use aids to teach children with often impulsive and sometimes explosive behaviours; design lessons to suit age-specific Amani children and youths; teach life skills; and liaise with community primary school teachers to reconnect students back to their schools.

Diploma or degree in the teaching field, proven ability to teach academic subjects at the primary school level, fluency in oral and written English and Swahili languages, ability to work independently on complex tasks under minimum supervision, proven participatory teaching methodologies, Commitment to children’s rights, participation, and empowerment, Willingness to learn, improve, and be open to criticism, and flexibility to accept other official assignments.

Note: The ability to teach mathematics is an added advantage.

Duty Station: Amani Centre for Street Children Arusha & Singida

Reporting to: Project Coordinator

Position Description:

The selected candidate will work intensively with street children and other social workers at Amani. S/he will manage street work caseloads, intervene, and mitigate cases for children and youths while still on the street or at the Centre. S/he in this position should be able to keep complete and confidential detailed data files of the children supported by Amani.

Minimum qualification and experience required:

A diploma or degree in social work, Community development, Sociology or any other child-development related studies. Fluency in oral and written English and Swahili, at least two years of work experience in a closely related position.

Family Worker/Case Manager. (1 Position).

Duty Station: Amani Centre for Street Children Singida

Reporting to: Project Coordinator

Position Description:

The selected candidate will work intensively with street children and their families. S/he will manage reunification caseloads, intervene and mitigate cases for children and youths at the centre and in their families, conduct frequent visits to the families of (reunified) street children and youth, and do follow-up visits to monitor the positive progress of children and youth who are reunited with their families. One in this position should be able to keep complete and confidential detailed data files of the children and youth and their families.

Minimum qualification and experience required:

A diploma or degree in social work, community development, sociology, or any other child-development-related studies. Fluency in oral and written English and Swahili, at least two years of working experience in a closely related position.
