Position: SBC Advisor -Lishe Mtambuka Project
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Location: Dar-es-salaam
Duration of Contract: One year renewable
Tanzania Communication and Development Center (TCDC), is a locally registered not for profit Organization that envisions being the leader in Social Behavior Change Communication and Development in Tanzania. TCDC has been sub-contracted by Chemonics International Inc who recently received notice of award for the Lishe Mtambuka Activity also known as the Regional Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Activity. TCDC will be providing technical leadership and implementation assistance in Social and Behaviour Change (SBC). Lishe Mtambuka is a USAID funded activity which will be implemented in 5-targeted regions of Tanzania mainland (Katavi, Kigoma,Songwe, Rukwa and Njombe). The project aims to strengthening Tanzanian health, food, water, and sanitation systems serving women of reproductive age and children under five.
SBC Advisor is responsible for ensuring that the project develop and implement Nutrition and WASH SBC activities and contributes to the project goal by coordinating the implementation of SBC interventions in close collaboration with project staff members, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.
SBC Advisor will work with Lishe Mtambuka team lead by Chemonics to manage development and implementation of SBC activities in line with project goal to reduce the burden of Nutrition and WASH and move towards the long-term goal of strengthening Tanzanian health, food, water, and sanitation systems serving women of reproductive age and children under five.
He/she will coordinate the development and implementation of SBC activities across all intermediate results at regional and community level through innovative SBC approaches that sustainably bring about positive behaviour change at community level.
Requirements:
Masters/Degree qualification in public health, nutrition,
social science-related studies, or other related field’s required.in; coordination and management of similar projects; Public health education and behavioural change communication.
Proven experience in implementing behavioural change communication projects, focusing promoting positive adoption of Nutrition and WASH related behaviours. Proven experience in implementing at least two projects that includes a strong behaviour change component.
Strong project management experience and financial/ budget analysis skills.
Personnel management experience is required 10 years’ experience in leading similar project, program planning and multi-cultural and remote personnel management experience.
Ability to become a thought leader in the field Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills a must
Ability to develop well-written, cohesive analyses and reports
Track record of building strong client and stakeholder relationships
Ability to identify and understand issues and opportunities, compare data from different sources to draw conclusions, use effective approaches for developing appropriate solutions, take action that is consistent with available facts and probable consequences, communicate with and seek guidance from regional program management team Ability to generate innovative solutions in work situations Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required Willingness to be based in seconded office and travel to remote rural locations.
