Position Description
North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join and grow their team. You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met.

About North Mara
The North Mara gold mine is located in north-west Tanzania in the Tarime district of the Mara region. It is around 100 kilometres east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometres south of the Kenyan border.
North Mara started commercial production in 2002. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits, Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit).
Responsibilities
- Ensure total compliance/adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Maintaining, repairing mechanical issues, Diagnostics / Fault Finding and Routine inspection on a variety of machines both mobile and fixed.
- To carry out preventative maintenance & repairs and provide accurate and timely feedback to the mechanical First Line Leader on conditions that may affect asset’s functionality.
- To ensure that the first line leader and all stakeholders are kept informed on equipment availability status.
- Work closely with planned maintenance department to do planning, root cause analysis, ordering and maintenance optimization to increase engineering availabilities.
- Display a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of critical equipment’s.
- Contribute to the Operations by ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and completed in a cost effective manner with minimal disruption to ore mining activities.
- Carry out tactical plan projects as designated within the maintenance section tactical plans.
- Be involvement where requested at various sites meetings.
- Identify and rectify/report specific hazards using Job Safety Analysis process.
- Report Environmental incidents and non-compliances.
Graduate Mechanical Engineering
Qualification requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to drive or operate LV and or machinery – Driver’s License.
- At least completed university between 2021 to 2023 in Mechanical Engineering
Experience and Competencies needed
- Any practical experience in
- Mechanical Field would be advantageous

Qualification requirements
- A relevant Electrical Engineering degree is required, together with current registration with Tanzania Engineering Registration Board as a Professional / Graduate Engineer.
- At least completed university between 2021 to 2023 in Electrical or mechanical electrical maintenance engineering
- Sound knowledge of CMMS, plant, equipment, Barrick standards, including engineering change management, and statutory requirements.
- Good working knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical electrical maintenance engineering and condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis, hydraulic / lube / transformer oil analysis, thermographic analysis, electrical protective systems and electrical motor / generator windings’ maintenance and testing.
Experience and Competencies needed
- Experienced in current maintenance practices and techniques.
- Computer literacy – able to utilize computer programs effectively, including standard MS Office Suite: dBase, word processing, spread-sheeting and the site based CMMS (Pronto).
- Capable of locating, reading and understanding technical documentation and manuals.
- Competent understanding of safety, isolation and site permitting procedures in the workplace.
- Driving ability.
Underground Mechanical Trainer
Qualification requirements
- A relevant trade qualification in mechanical or Technician Certificate from a recognized institution.
- A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired
Experience and competencies needed
- Minimum of 8 years’ Artisanal experience in mechanical fitting and mobile equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrated competencies in the rebuild and servicing of underground mining mobile equipment’s.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
- Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a Safe working environment and practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Computer skills –MS Excel, Access, Word, Outlook.
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment.
- Driving ability.

Occupational Nurse
Qualification requirements
- Diploma/ Bachelor in nursing from a reputable college.
- Certificate in Occupational Health and knowledge in project implementation is added advantage.
Experience and Competencies needed
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a reputable hospital or organization.
- Must be with good communication skills in both Swahili and English.
- Capacity and willingness to work as a team member, in a proactive manner, under pressure when necessary.
- Performance-oriented individual with strong conceptual thinking ability
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with staff and officials at all levels in an international environment.
- Culture-sensitive, with good interpersonal skills.

Rigging Supervisor
Qualification requirements
- Must be a qualified Rigger with a Trade Certificate from a recognized institution
Experience and Competencies needed
- Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience as a rigger or ropesman
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill competencies in safe lifting techniques, lifting gear selection, determination of weights and mass and crane movement directing
- Verification of training and experience in operating various industrial machines such as Forklifts, Loaders, Overhead cranes, self-Loading Vehicle Cranes, trucks, mobile cranes etc.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate the above listed equipment
- Must have a valid driving license
- Excellence communication skills in English language
- Must have the ability to operate with minimum supervision
- High professional conduct at all times and the ability to deal with a diverse client base
- Must train employee the necessary rigging skills to be ready for a trade test.
Maintenance Schedular
Qualification requirements
- Technical/ Vocational School, Apprenticeship training, on-the-job training (FTC, VETA, IMTT Trade Test or its Equivalent).
- Recognized Practical qualifications.
