The Opportunity

This role will provide expert modelling and strategic analytical insight of Plan financial economy to underpin strategic thinking to ensure the financial sustainability of the whole Plan Family. This role is focused on the sustainability of the organisation and presents a real opportunity to add value to the organisation and support the Leadership Team on how the organisation could be more efficient, grow funding base and influence the medium and longer term view of the organisation.

Key responsibilities include;
  • Leading the development and continuous improvement of robust, complex financial and economic models to analyse scenarios relating to the financial sustainability
  • Providing strategic analytical insight based on the modelling and wider political context and external environment to maximise impact of modelling, supporting Executive Director, Finance & IT, Director, Strategic Finance, CEO and other key senior stakeholders
  • Leading financial modelling and analysis in relation to major corporate developments such as Mergers and Acquisitions, new operating structures in partnership with the Corporate Development and Strategy teams
  • Reviewing and analysing business cases prepared for new initiatives including for Innovation fund, investment fund, digital fund and other key funds that may emerge to ensure financial viability, value for money and ROI. Act as key adviser to colleagues (including SFBPs) on financial, economic and commercial aspects of business case development
  • Providing analysis and insight to the Financial Sustainability Programme project leads to inform their recommendations
  • Supporting the review of key financial standards and policies to ensure relevant and enabling in context of actual financial position
  • Working closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team, recommend changes to Plan’s data model and systems to strengthen the organisational capability to deliver analysis and insight
  • Creating and delivering training courses as required to build colleague (both finance and non-finance) capability in these areas
  • Contributing to the transformation of Plan culture to ensure decisions are evidence based and financially/commercially viable.
  • Providing strategic advice to senior managers in order to support the successful delivery of Plan International’s mission and strategy.
  • Championing change by role modelling the behaviour expected from all colleagues, develop and communicate plans to ensure change is successfully implemented within own department.

  •  Ideally educated to degree level in finance or economics, related working experience
  • Understanding of political strategy, as well as the global fundraising landscape

The Opportunity
Through Programme Y.O.D.A (Your Organisation’s Data and Analytics), Plan is changing its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution and is taking a virtual approach to Y.O.D.A training.
As a Y.O.D.A Instructional Designer/e-learning developer, you will create engaging, visually appealing self-paced learning materials which capture and retain learner interest where the subject matter focuses on processes and systems. You will use your expertise to propose new activity types and better ways of working.

The Opportunity
As the Deployable Education in Emergencies (EiE) Specialist, you will be a key member of Plan International’s Global Hub Education in Emergencies team. While on deployment (which could sometimes be at short notice), you will provide technical support to Plan International’s Country Offices (COs). This normally involves responding to medium and large-scale emergencies to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate EiE programmes. You will ensure that EiE interventions are aligned with the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies Minimum Standards (INEE MS) and related resources, and other global humanitarian standards, guidelines and tools.

When not on deployment you will contribute to Plan’s EiE workplan as agreed with the team, which may include continued follow up from a distance with deployment countries. This will be done whilst building and maintaining relationships with relevant government departments and key donors.  
About You
You bring financial modelling skills and experience and strong financial/economic analysis experience. Excellent MS Excel skills are essential with an appetite for learning new systems also key. This role requires a proactive self starter who can manage conflicting priorities and has the interest and aptitude to gather relevant information and create narrative.

 Location: The location of this role can be flexible where Plan International has an office* that can employ on behalf of the Global Hub and you have the pre-existing right to work and live.
Type of role: Permanent or maximum fixed term contract as per employing office’s standard terms and conditions.
Salary: We will be happy to disclose the salary and applicable benefits to applicants as part of this process, however, please kindly note that the salary and employment benefits will be set according to your location and therefore it is not possible to include full details here.
As an indication if this role was based in the UK the salary would be circa £40,000 per annum.
