EWURA is an independent, world class regulatory authority responsible
for licensing, tariff setting, and quality of service regulation of
the electricity, water, and petroleum and natural gas sectors. EWURA’s
vision is “To be a World Class Regulator for Sustainable Energy
and Water Services”.
EWURA mission is “To regulate energy and water utilities in a transparent, effective and efficient manner that ensures their quality, availability and affordability”. The functions of EWURA include among others, licensing, tariff review, monitoring performance and standards with regards to quality, safety, health and environment. EWURA is also responsible for promoting effective competition and economic efficiency, protecting the interests of consumers and promoting the availability of regulated services to all consumers including low income, rural and disadvantaged consumers in the regulated sectors.
The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to representing the State Public Service Commissioners who regulate essential utility services in the United States. NARUC members are responsible for assuring reliable utility service at fair, just, and reasonable rates. Founded in 1889, the Association is an invaluable resource for its members and the regulatory community, providing a venue to set and influence public policy, share best practices, and foster innovative solutions to improve regulation.
