Position: Water Distribution Technician II (2 Posts)Purpose of the Job
This is a supervision position in which the position holder will be responsible to supervise the entire allocated area of water supply networks and community hygienic proportion.
Main duties and Responsibility
- Acts as overall in charge of junior staff in their respective areas.
- Conducts on job training for his/her junior staff.
- Prepares maps and diagrams of water pipelines.
- Assists in general water meters maintenance activities such as installation, removal and repairs.
- Performs chlorine residual checks at storage tanks, distribution system and water points,
- Supervises customer water meter readings and submit data for preparation of customers’ bills,
- Prepares demand of materials for new pipeline construction and fixtures required for repairs and maintenance of pipelines,
- Responds to questions and concerns from general public regarding water services issues, and provide information as appropriate,
- Establishes and maintain a positive working relationship with representatives of Village Water Committees, Government or local agencies,
- Makes regular checks in water intakes and treatment plants to ensure proper operations,
- Performs general preventive and maintenance of water pipelines and structures,
- Creates, Reviews and updates Standard Operating Procedures of water supply schemes,
- Contributes to the development of performance measurement of his/her junior staff,
- Assists in preparing and monitoring operating, maintenance and capital investment budgets,
- Performs other related duties as he/she may be assigned by his/her superiors
Qualification
- Holder of full Technician Certificate in Civil Engineering (FTC) or Diploma in Water Supply and Sanitation Engineering.
- Working knowledge of proper water works plumbing methods and techniques.
- Computer literate.

Main duties and Responsibility
- The head of section responsible for departmental administrative issues on day to day basis,
- Responsible for Operation and Maintenance of water network infrastructures,
- Recommending new or amendment of polices, regulations and by-laws to the Manager of the Company for:
- The control of water quality by developing procedures for water quality monitoring and ensure co-coordination sampling of raw water and chlorinated water supplies to ensure compliance with the prescribed standards of drinking water,
- The operations and maintenance of all water sources (Boreholes/springs/rivers) and water treatment (chlorination) works and water network ,
- Operations and maintenance of all Vehicles, machines, plants and equipment used in running water supply networks,
- Prepares Operation and Maintenance manuals for water network infrastructures.
- Responsible for ensuring water supply and good hygienic practice according to Company’s agreed performance and public health standards,
- Carries out routine and preventive maintenance of water borehole pumps.
- Responsible to ensure maximum safety measures are observed for sub ordinates during water production processes.
- Responsible to carry out maintenance and rehabilitation of water network infrastructures.
- Responsible to Maintains proper records of water network inventory and monitors all factors affecting the network.
- Liaises with Customer Service Section in handling customer complaints related to water sup ply.
- Carries out new water connections so as to increase the customer base.
- Carries out studies on Non-Revenue Water and recommends the corrective measures on its reduction.
- Keeps records of daily major and minor breakdowns of water distribution system and cause for prompt repair of the same.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned by Technical Manager.
Qualification
- First degree in Engineering in any of the following fields; Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or any Water Related Discipline, with experience in (Having Master Degree in water resources Management is an added advantage),
- Should have more than three (3) years of relevant working experience in water utility and capable in design and construction of water supply systems,
- Should be registered with Professional Engineering Board as Professional Engineer,
- Proven computer knowledge and skills,
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Pro-active and team player
- Demonstrated good leadership qualities,
- Ability to work well in team work and under pressure
- High level of initiative, creativity and integrity
- The applicant should be below 45 years when lodging this application

Position: Assistant Water Distribution Technician (5 Posts)
Purpose of the Job
This is a supervision position in which the position holder will be responsible to supervise the entire allocated area of water supply networks and community hygienic proportion.

Main duties and Responsibility
- Installs new water connections, disconnect service connections and repair valves and water meters,
- Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in operation and maintenance of water intakes,
- Keeps records of work activities performed,
- Reads water meters, inspects meters for leaks and improper functioning, change out meters,
- Locates and marks water lines for other contractors,
- Repairs broken water lines including transmission main, distribution main and service lines,
- Cleans and maintains properties that are part of water system such as storage tanks and pump stations,
- Performs any other related duties as he/she may be assigned by his/her superiors.
Qualification
- Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education CSEE with VETA level III in plumbing and pipefitting from reputable institution,
- Working experience of not less than 2 years from reputable organization,
- Able to speak and write fluently in English and Kiswahili,
- Valid driving license category A is an added advantage.
- Pro-active and a team player.
- Demonstrating ability to follow written and oral instructions effectively.
- Able to work under minimum supervision
