Position Title: Library Assistant The Library Assistant shall provide technical support services for the day to day running of the Library and Documentation center.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Data entry into the online catalogue;
- Sorting material according to classification or catalogue numbers and arranging materials for shelving and other processes;
- Handling circulation desk operations including check in/out of materials;
- Creating and maintaining databases;
- Developing, processing and managing collections including delivery and collection of materials to and from faculty offices;
- Updating library records;
- Communicating library policies and procedures;
- Monitoring the use of library facilities by users;
- Attending to Library users appropriately;
Read Also:
- A Diploma in Library studies and Information Technology or equivalent qualification with five (5) years relevant experience.
- Ability to use technology in enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Library, including web based methods of improving technological access to information;
- Good overall knowledge of archiving and filing information as well as maintaining databases and reference information;
- Capable of evaluating resources and finding the best ones for addressing different questions or issues;
- Ability to professionally search databases, internet resources, and catalogs to find needed information;
- Ability to communicate well with library staff as well as customers;
- Deep knowledge of books so as to be able to advise readers as to which good books for their reading level and interests;
- Ability to present information clearly;
- Strong level of customer service skills;
- Ability to adapt to new tools, systems and situations as they arise for information technology is constantly evolving and shifting;

Position Title: Maintenance Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Maintenance Officer shall be responsible for undertaking a wide range of maintenance activities related to the maintenance of the Institute’s buildings, equipment, facilities and upkeep of the estates;
- Ensuring effective and efficient operation of the Institutes equipment such as Boiler, generator, water pump, laundry machines, fire equipment’s;
- Handling electrical and plumbing works;
- Carrying our maintenance and repairs to structural, mechanical and electrical systems, boilers, heating and ventilation systems, buildings;
- Developing and carrying out preventive and maintenance schedules and undertaking routine inspections of the buildings, fixtures, fittings;
- Monitoring utilities consumption and ensure the efficient use of the Institutes resources;
- Diagnose any faults in buildings, boiler and machines and report any defects and suggested improvements;
- Coordinate and carryout emergency and regular repairs of buildings and equipment;
- Ensure all relevant health and safety regulations are complied with;
- Preparation of maintenance budgets;
- Ensure the Institute Boreholes are in good running condition

Qualifications
- A minimum of a Diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification with five (5) years’ experience in maintenance related duties in a reputable organization.
- Competence and Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and electrical systems;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of utilities and ability to safely operate electricity, gas, water systems, plant and equipment;
- Electrical and mechanical skills;
- Knowledge of fire and safety regulations;
- Planning and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience on boiler operation;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Borehole functions;
