INTRODUCTION
Mwalimu Commercial Bank PLC (MCB) is a limited liability company
established under the Companies Act (Cap 212 R. E. 2002) and licensed to
carry Banking business under the provision of the Banking and Financial
Institutions Act, 2006 and licensed to conduct banking business by the
Bank of Tanzania on 13th July 2016.

The bank is well capitalized with TZS 30.9bln raised from 61.8 million
shares of Tshs. 500 each floated and paid up through Dar Es Salaam Stock
Exchange (DSE).
The current shareholding structure of MCB consists of Tanzania Teachers’
Union (TTU) and its affiliate company called Teachers’ Development
Company Ltd (TDCL)- (16.2%), Individual Teachers – (35.2%), Public
Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) -(16.2%), National Health Insurance Fund
(NHIF) (16.2%) and the General public (16.2%).

candidates to fill two positions of Independent Directors to the Board
of the Mwalimu Commercial Bank PLC.
The names of all aspiring and qualifying candidates will be forwarded to the Annual General Meeting for voting.
REQUIREMENTS
An Experienced Accountant, ICT or Banking professional; a combination of two will be an added advantage.
Leadership experience, knowledge and experience on economics, finance and accounting.
Proven track record and good corporate governance practices.
High moral and ethical character without any criminal records or history of bankruptcy.
Applicants are required to observe the requirements of this role under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act.
Directors appointed and elected shall be confirmed by the general
meeting such that their appointment shall not be effective until
approved by the Bank of Tanzania.
