Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) plays a vital role in the maintenance and development of Tanzania’s trunk and regional road networks. The agency is also responsible for conducting axle load control operations using weighbridge scales. The Regional Manager of TANROADS Songwe, on behalf of the Chief Executive TANROADS, is seeking qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant positions for the Upgrading of Isongole II-Kasumulu-Ipyana-Katumba Songwe Regional Road (114.3 KM), including Ndembo-Isoko spur road (5.914 KM) and Muungano-Ipyana Section (0.658 KM) to Bitumen Standard.

Job Listings:

1. Resident Engineer – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
     • Registered with ERB as a Professional Engineer with a current practicing certificate.
     • At least 10 years of cumulative working experience in road and bridge construction, design, supervision, and contract management under FIDIC conditions.
     • Proficiency in English is required.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Oversee technical and administrative aspects of the site.
     • Supervise contractors and manage work plans.
     • Ensure quality control and manage project contracts.
     • Prepare monthly progress reports, process contractor invoices, and facilitate payments.
2. Materials Engineer – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
     • Registered with ERB as a Professional Engineer.
     • At least 7 years of experience in road and bridge construction, materials testing, and pavement construction.
     • Fluency in both Swahili and English is required.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Supervise laboratory and experiments, ensuring specifications are applied.
     • Implement QA/QC procedures and inspect materials for compliance.
     • Advise the Resident Engineer on materials quality and usage on-site.
3. Highway Engineer – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, or equivalent.
     • Registered with ERB as a Professional Engineer.
     • At least 7 years of experience and involvement in at least 3 similar projects.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Supervise contractors, manage work plans, and ensure quality control.
     • Prepare progress reports, manage contracts, and oversee social and environmental impact mitigation measures.
4. Topographical Surveyor – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or equivalent.
     • Registered by NCPS as a Professional Land Surveyor.
     • At least 5 years of experience in road and bridge surveying.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Prepare sketches, maps, and reports.
     • Conduct surveys, ensuring accuracy in measurements, and assist with legal boundary establishment.
     • Maintain survey instruments and establish fixed points for mapping.
5. Works Inspector – Drainage/Structure – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
     • Registered as a Graduate Engineer by ERB.
     • At least 3 years of experience in a related field.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Review and inspect structural drawings and materials for compliance.
     • Prepare daily progress reports and maintain a site diary.
     • Ensure the quality of drainage works.
6. Works Inspector – Road Works – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
     • Registered as a Graduate Engineer by ERB.
     • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Inspect road works to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
     • Supervise traffic flow and ensure health and safety standards.
     • Prepare daily progress reports and assist with QA/QC procedures.
7. Assistant Land Surveyor – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent.
     • At least 3 years of related work experience.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Assist in survey preparation, data accuracy, and the recording of results.
     • Help determine specifications for aerial photography equipment.
8. CAD Technician – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Land Surveying, or equivalent.
     • At least 3 years of experience in the field.
     • Certificate in CAD training.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Prepare drawings and sketches related to road and bridge design.
     • Liaise with the Highway Engineer for improvements.
9. ICT Officer – 1 Position
   • Entry Qualifications:
     • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
     • At least 3 years of ICT-related experience.
     • Fluency in Swahili and English is mandatory.
   • Duties and Responsibilities:
     • Implement ICT policies and troubleshoot issues.
     • Maintain computer programs and install new systems.
10. Economist II – 1 Position

• Entry Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Statistics, or equivalent.
• Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Compile data for strategic plans, prepare performance reports, and conduct economic evaluations.

11. Accounts Officer II – 1 Position

• Entry Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy, Finance, or equivalent.
• Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare financial budgets, manage income collection, and record financial transactions.

12. Office Management Secretary – 1 Position

• Entry Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Secretarial Studies or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain office diary, prepare reports, and manage correspondence.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Tanzanian citizenship is required for all positions.
• Applicants must be ready to work in Songwe Region, where the projects are located.

Terms of Service:

• Specified contract for 1 year.
