Project Zawadi’s mission is to ensure Tanzanian children and youth have access to a quality education. Project Zawadi (PZ) is a small non-profit organization that provides support via three programs: Student Support, School Support (Model Schools), and Professional Teacher Training (Tenda Teachers).

Job Purpose:
The Human Resources Officer at Project Zawadi (PZ) will manage and oversee all HR operations and ensure compliance with PZ’s policies and procedures. The role will focus on recruitment, onboarding, employee welfare, performance management, and organizational culture to support Project Zawadi’s mission “To ensure Tanzanian children and youth have access to a quality education”
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Staffing:
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.
- Facilitate job postings, screen resumes, and conduct interviews.
- Coordinate the onboarding and orientation process for new employees.
- Ensure job descriptions are up-to-date and accurate.
- Employee Relations and Welfare:
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related queries and issues.
- Provide support to employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Mediate conflicts and support staff well-being initiatives.
- Promote a positive workplace culture by organizing team-building and wellness activities.
- Performance Management:
- Implement performance appraisal systems and monitor employee performance.
- Provide guidance to supervisors on performance issues and development opportunities.
- Facilitate training and development programs to improve employee skills.
- Compensation and Benefits:
- Administer payroll, leave, and benefits programs.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of employee benefits, contracts, and salaries.
- Liaise with finance and ensure compliance with labor laws.
- Compliance and Policy Management:
- Ensure all HR practices are compliant with Tanzania labor laws and Project Zawadi policies.
- Maintain personnel records, ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
- Update and manage the implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Training and Development:
- Identify training needs and organize development programs for staff.
- Provide support in career development and succession planning.
- Ensure continuous improvement of skills and knowledge in line with PZ goals.
- Organizational Development:
- Assist in creating organizational strategies for growth and staff capacity building.
- Support the development of leadership within the organization.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a human resources role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzania’s labor laws and employment practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
