Laboratory to ensure the highest quality products are achieve as aligned
to the production targets.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, prepares, revise and controls of operational budgets for the laboratory, cane weighbridge, effluent plant and manage costs effectively.
- Compiles, reviews and updates the work instructions used in the Factory laboratory, cane weighbridges, effluent plant and design of systems for continuous improvement of the facilities.
- Programs, troubleshoots and maintains the cane lab and Excel Software and database for analytical data capturing, manipulation, storage and reporting as well as the Info wave / Scaleability weighbridge system for capturing and reporting of cane deliveries.
- Develop standards setting for operating equipment and setting of equipment to correct specifications.
- Produces daily, weekly and monthly factory performance reports, diffuser curves and B&C pan brix profiles for process, management, technical services department and sugar Milling Research Institute among other clients.
- Provides high quality services to other departments such as slurry preparation for sugar graining at the pan floor, granulated activated carbon, refinery liquor colour analysis for determining payments.
- Ensure that all weighbridges and scales are as sized, checked and calibrated, yearly, weekly and daily.
- Manages and controls the laboratory, weighbridge, and effluent plant stock inventory.
- Develop capability on the job and hold teams accountable for performance.
Job Qualification and Experience
- BSc Analytical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- 5 year laboratory experience.
- 3 years Cane lab experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Team and process leadership experience.
Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on a Permanent Contract.

Process & Recoveries Engineer at Kilombero Sugar
Job Purpose
Implementing world class practices to optimize sugar recovery and
Contribute to the Optimization Strategy with a view towards long term
growth, optimal efficiency and sustainability.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive production, recovery and extraction initiatives that will deliver products at volume, cost and quality levels that drive profitability.
- Drive synergies with the group, effectively partnering with group counterparts to identify, share and embed opportunities for production optimization.
- Provide expertise on complex, multi-faceted production issues, support and advise on solutions.
- Model and simulate factory balance to understand bottlenecks and key efficiency drivers, and use the model to propose solutions, drawing on factory real time data.
- Contribute to production & Supply Side plans and monitoring of compliance to plans.
- Optimise cost of production.
- Conduct regular internal and external benchmarking exercises to identify and develop Production best practices and improvement opportunities.
- Address all technical process audit findings.
- Monitors factory effluent quality and quantity to ensure that any effluent disposal is within specification.
- Support production teams in developing the necessary skills and experience to meet current and future needs.
- Ensure enablers are in place to promote success (e.g. systems and processes)

Electrical Maintenance Foreman at Kilombero Sugar
Job Purpose
The successful incumbent will be responsible to effectively manage
services and processes that support Electrical maintenance in the plant.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- To ensure optimal performance of all electrical equipment in the plant.
- To ensure electricity is generated and reticulated safely on site.
- To ensure electrical standards are implemented and the site is legally compliant.
- To provide Electrical Engineering support in daily operations this include high, medium and low voltage switching between estate electrical reticulation.
- Monitor performance and support teams in solving problems and/or taking corrective action.
- Manage work quality to reduce rework and maintain consistent electricity network inside the plant.
- Ensure equipment maintenance and reliability and ensure maintenance plans are aligned to achieve this.
- Identify areas where equipment performance and quality management can be improved and manage the implementation of systems and processes to make improvements.
- Ensure continuous improvement by implementing functional best practices and conducting physical inspections.
- Identify technical training needs within the team and provide / oversee training.
- Ensure Equipment and BOM information and WOs are captured and managed accurately within SAP.
- Provide teams with necessary tools and equipment to perform work effectively.

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or any relevant qualification.
- 3+ years’ experience in planned maintenance systems.
- Able to work methodically and systematically in a Sugar Mill environment.
