Bank of Baroda, a leading nationalized bank in India with an international presence, is seeking to hire a Manager Compliance for its operations in Tanzania. The bank operates 8243 branches in India and 96 branches/offices globally, including branches in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Kariakoo, and Mwanza. The bank provides a full range of banking services to individuals, businesses, government departments, SMEs, and more. The Manager Compliance will oversee the compliance department and ensure adherence to regulations across the bank’s operations.

Major Responsibilities
- Oversee the compliance function of the bank.
- Perform compliance risk assessments and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor changes in legislation and advise management on necessary compliance measures.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Provide staff training on KYC, anti-money laundering, and other compliance issues.
- Ensure timely submission of regulatory returns and reports.
- Liaise with external bodies to ensure the bank’s compliance with regulations.
- Conduct internal investigations into compliance issues.
- Stay updated with legal and regulatory developments.
- Identify potential compliance risks and mitigate them.
- Ensure effective systems, procedures, and controls for compliance, including in risk management, governance, Anti-Money Laundering, and Data Protection.
- Report to the bank’s management regarding compliance issues.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to the board.
- Maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies.
- Develop and revise the annual compliance work plan as needed.
- Oversee and monitor the implementation of the compliance program.
- Maintain documented and effective compliance procedures aligned with internal standards.
- Interact with regulators on compliance issues.
- Coordinate audits, reviews, and examinations.
- Independently investigate compliance-related matters.
- Monitor external review processes.
- Minimum Qualification: Graduate in CPA (T) or MBA (Finance). Candidates with higher qualifications may also apply.
- In-depth knowledge of banking industry regulations and guidelines.
- At least 5 years of experience in banking at a supervisory level in the Compliance department.
- Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, lead, and control the daily operations of the Compliance Department.
