Job Title: Workshop Foreman
Job Summary
The workshop foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing daily operation within the workshop, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standard. This includes supervising and directing a team of technician or workers, maintaining, tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety protocol and managing workflow. Also, a workshop foreman is responsible for coordinating tasks, troubleshooting issues, monitoring inventory and ensuring that project is completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Engine Dismantling Oversight:
o Supervise the dismantling of truck engines and gearbox transmissions, ensuring adherence to standard procedures and the use of appropriate tools for quality results.
- Engine Assembling Oversight:
o Oversee the assembly of truck engines and gearbox transmissions, utilizing a
torque wrench to maintain quality and precision during the process.
- Hands-On Dismantling and Assembling:
o Actively participate in dismantling and assembling truck engines and gearboxes during peak workloads to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Repair Monitoring:
o Assist the workshop and technical managers in tracking truck and trailer repairs, ensuring that technicians and mechanics adhere to scheduled timelines.
- Floor Maintenance Coordination:
o Coordinate maintenance activities on the workshop floor, following directives from the technical head to optimize manpower and reduce wastage.
- Daily Updates Liaison:
o Communicate with the workshop supervisor and administrative staff to provide daily updates on truck and trailer repair progress and timelines.
- Spare Parts Identification:
o Collaborate with management to inspect and identify the correct spare parts required for both trucks and trailers to ensure efficient repairs.
- Training and Development:
o Provide training and guidance to junior technicians and mechanics, fostering skill development and adherence to safety standards.
- Quality Control:
o Implement quality control measures to ensure that all maintenance and repair work meets company and industry standards.
- Safety Compliance:
o Ensure that all workshop activities comply with safety regulations and best practices to maintain a safe working environment for all staff.
- Reporting:
o Prepare regular reports on maintenance activities, workloads, and any issues that arise, providing feedback to workshop head and supervisor for continuous improvement.
- Inventory Management:
o Assist in managing inventory levels of tools, equipment, and spare parts to ensure that the workshop is adequately stocked for ongoing operation
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Automotive Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience 3+ years in transport and logistics management, preferably in ICD, CFS setting.
- Strong knowledge on analytical skills to identify feasible and realists to handle complex mechanics issues and find solutions accordingly.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. – Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
