Airtel Tanzania PLC wishes to recruit for a Project Management Officer. The role reports to the Managing Director within Business Head Department. The Incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day monitoring and delivery of key business activities as per alignment with the OPCO MD’s office.

The Role Holder duties will include but not limited to:

1.Transformation Projects updates & follow up;

o Ensure signed off Project Charters for all top transformation projects

o Develop and deploy a tracking mechanism in consultation with the Project owners

o Monthly tracking / progress report:

  • Exceptional items requiring decision making / support from OPCO MD
  • Highlight Critical Path items that are at risk
  • KPI measurement / Output tracking

2.New projects progress update

o Ensure signed off Project Charters for any new projects

o Develop and deploy a tracking mechanism in consultation with the Project owners

o Monthly tracking / progress report:

  • Exceptional items requiring decision making / support from MD office
  • Highlight Critical Path items that are at risk
  • KPI measurement / Output tracking

3.Critical Weekly / Monthly projects progress update – as per weekly/Monthly projects stipulated in the Review and Governance Matrix

o Develop and deploy a tracking mechanism in consultation with the Project owners

o Weekly /monthly tracking / progress report:

  • Exceptional items requiring decision making / support from OPCO MD
  • Highlight Critical Path items that are at risk
  • KPI measurement / Output tracking

4.Weekly tracking of all key messages needing actioning sent out by MD.

o Develop a status and tracker for all key strategic / business messages sent by MD

o RAG status – exceptional items to be highlighted – issues that are not on track

5.Highlight any decision making / support areas from MD

6.Consolidation of all tracking items into weekly report for discussion with MD for closure

7.Detailed OpCo Business Review report progress reports on all projects running.

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • MBA essential

Passive Supervisor (Cable Landing Station) at Airtel

Airtel Tanzania PLC wishes to recruit for a Passive Supervisor (Cable Landing Station). The role reports to the Cable Landing Station Manager within Network Department. The Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all passive infrastructure at and around the Cable Landing Station are healthy by providing world class operational and maintenance supervision and governance to third party.

Key Responsibilities.

1.Ensure that the Environmental condition is maintained as per the standard.

2.Monitor the Equipment Status (Daily), regular checking to ensure health of all power equipment, at all times, any abnormality to be recorded and ensure that it’s rectified on immediate basis.

3.Earthing (Monthly) Ensure that regular check is done to ensure all the earth pits are maintained regularly, in case the earth resistance is out of acceptable range, the same need to be communicated to partner and corrected, any abnormality like rusted / loose connection etc. to be recorded and rectified on immediate basis

4.Ensure that the DG maintenance is done as per the required standard, Diesel tanks must be monitored for any sign of leakage etc.

5.Ensure that Power maintenance logbook is maintained for all Power equipment at CLS, tracking & timely completion of every PM of all the power equipment, keeping records on the same, equipment like PEC Aircon, Rectifiers, UPS, HT transformer, Fire detection & suppression system etc.

6.Monitor and assist with maintenance activities of suppliers.

7.Ensure that all passive quick moving spares are available at CLS and are maintained as required to avoid delays in case of failures needing spare replacement, Inventory management of installed and spare inventory.

8.Prepare operational reports (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly).

9.Perform scheduled system routine procedures and record results in the prescribed Manner.

10.Conduct site surveys and assessments to evaluate existing space utilization and identify opportunities for optimization.

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Certification/training in Cable landing station is an added advantage

Relevant Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience managing mission critical facilities.
  • Proven experience in data center/cable landing station passive infrastructure planning, capacity management, or facility design.
  • Knowledge of cable landing station infrastructure components, including racks, networking equipment, cooling systems, and power distribution units.
  • Project management skills to plan and execute power/cooling/firefighting planning projects effectively.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to cable landing station design and operations. Knows how to practically apply specialized knowledge into problem solving
