Tanganyika Christian Refugee Service (TCRS) used to be the Field Program of the Lutheran World Federation Department for World Service (LWF/DWS), carrying out programs of humanitarian, relief, and development activities with refugees and marginalized poor people in Tanzania. However, in 2006 the organization was localized and registered as a Local NGO in Tanzania.
The Primary functions of TCRS are to carry out humanitarian, relief and development activities in Tanzania. Currently, TCRS works in Humanitarian, Emergency Response, Relief, and Community Empowerment Programs with both refugees and local communities in various parts of Tanzania.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and competent Tanzanian candidates to fill the post of Assistant Program Officer – Intern at TCRS Head Office, Dar es Salaam.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern’s duties and responsibilities will revolve around communication and advocacy as highlighted below;
- Conduct research on the prospective new partners for TCRS and provide an analysis of the areas of work, outreach, financial-based na reputation of the prospective partners.
- Support to increased awareness of TCRS’ mandate and goals through dissemination of information, and organization of public events. iii) Organization of publicity, advocacy, knowledge-sharing events and promotional opportunities. Provision of logistics support to events
- Attend meetings with NGOs, government, donors, and private sectors, taking notes, sharing information and supporting information programs to increase TCRS’ profile and protect its interest.
- Maintenance of information database and photo library vi) Manage social media content creation
- Develop and implement strategies to increase and improve public outreach
- Prepare promotional material for the projects ix) Prepare communication reports
Qualifications:
- Recent graduate with a Degree in Social Science /Community Development /Project Management/ Journalism/ Social work
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills.
- Good command of English and Kiswahili (speaking and writing)
- Computer literate
