 JOB SUMMARY                                                                                                                                                                                              

Organizing and ensuring medical consultations to the target population providing treatment to patients within the scope of medical competencies and referring them when appropriate and controls the rational distribution of medicine and attends to emergency cases in the health facility.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                                                                           

  • Ensuring the implementation and standardization of Medical Teams clinical policies, tools, and hygiene protocols in order to minimize clinical risks and to guarantee the quality of patient care management. Promoting and maintaining confidentiality regarding all patient cases and records.
  • Implementing diagnosis, prescription and prevention procedures that fall under the scope of his/her competencies applying medical knowledge, asking appropriate questions to patients and following protocols in force as well as using laboratory services, when necessary, in order to ensure a correct implementation of the medical treatments and to refer patients when appropriate.
  • Participating in the planning and supervision, in close coordination with other supervisors, the HR processes (sizing, staff shifts, recruitment, training, evaluation, development and communication) of the team in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required, improve people triage capabilities, their motivation and commitment and their active participation in teaching the targeted population on therapeutic and preventive protocols.
  • Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service. List item
  • In cases of emergency, carrying out first aid care and treatment according to protocols in order to reduce mortality rates.
  • Recording in the individual patient’s card and registration books, all performed medical activities (drugs prescribed, lab results, vaccination status, epidemiological activity, doses, etc.) keeping data traceability in order to ensure patients treatment continuity.
  • Participating in data collection and reporting when required
  • Knowing and implementing Patient Therapeutic Education (PTE), i.e. keeping contact with all patients, providing them information regarding their health state and responding to their questions.
  • Knowing and promoting the proper application of Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit and Sexually Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol.
  • Inform patient and their family about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow; verify understanding to ensure informed consent and adherence to treatment.
  • Participate in community mobilization and sensitization on curative and preventative health services.
  • Ensure general hygiene standards and universal precautions are followed at all times and implement and monitor actions to reduce bio-hazard risks and improve infection control.
  • Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
  • Ensure that medical decisions are made with the highest level of integrity and ethics according to professional and MTI Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure direct reports have clear objectives, receive mentorship and participate in capacity building opportunities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and enforce disciplinary process as per MTI policy.
  • Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding code of conduct and behavior expectations.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine
  • Registration with Tanganyika Medical Council is required
  • Valid practising license is required

EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years of clinical medicine experience is required
  • Experience working with international NGOs is an added advantage

 JOB SUMMARY                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

In support of the Medical Laboratory Technician, performs routine laboratory investigations for patients. Ensure security and hygiene measures are respected at all times.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                                                                                 

Under the general oversight of the Medical Laboratory Technician:

  • Collect samples, including performing phlebotomy and conducting home visits to patients unable to travel to health facility, and conduct routine laboratory investigations for patients.
  • Interpret laboratory results, communicate findings to doctors and clinicians and file reports while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Process specimens to be sent to outside laboratories and do follow up.
  • Maintain quality control of specimen samples.
  • Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria, including universal precautions, are met; manage waste as per good laboratory practices.
  • Ensure biomedical equipment is in good working order by using in accordance with user manual and protocols, perform cleaning and minor maintenance and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
  • Monitor the consumption of supplies and equipment required for laboratory activities and notify supervisor of re-stocking needs.
  • Ensure that medical practices are conducted with the highest level of integrity and ethics according to professional and MTI Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure the Safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.  EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS                                                                                                                                        

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology is required.
  • Health Laboratory Technologists’ Council of Tanzania Valid practicing license is required.

 EXPERIENCE                                                                                                                                                                                                     

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • Experience working with an international NGO is an added advantage.

 JOB SUMMARY                                                                                                                                                                                              

Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to MTI obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and new-born caring standards and under the supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

  • Provide comprehensive maternal and child services to mothers during and after pregnancy, including managing complications and referring high risk pregnancies.
  • Responsible for delivering babies, preparing birth attestation and monitoring the general health condition of the mother and the new-born.
  • Assessing the feasibility for referral of pregnant women form the Traditional Birthing Attendant (TBA) to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
  • Provide counselling to mothers on pregnancy and post-pregnancy management, including proper breastfeeding techniques, bathing and preparation of bottles.
  • Participate in Primary Healthcare activities including health education, family planning, preparing for childbirth, HCT services and nutrition programs, as well as Prevention of Mother to child transmission activities at the health facility and within the community.
  • Provide primary care to women of reproductive age in accordance with the Basic Package of Health Services.
  • Provide all non-surgical methods of family planning and provide counselling for surgical methods.
  • Ensure babies are immunized according to schedule.
  • Support Doctors and Clinicians in the management of sexual violence cases.
  • Monitor the consumption of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities and notify supervisor of re-stocking needs.

 JOB SUMMARY                                                                                                                                                                                              

Assist Pharmaceutical Technician to provide an accurate, timely, and qualitative dispensing service of drugs according to medical prescriptions and Medical Teams International’s protocols, standards, and procedures in order to improve the patient’s health conditions.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

  • Dispense medication to patients according to medical prescription, ensuring the medication is labeled with the correct drug name, strength, quantity, expiry date, directions for use and additional required information and providing clear instructions and advice on how to take the drug, when, how long, how to store, possible side-effects and any other relevant warnings. Making sure the patient understands in order to ensure correct treatment.
  • Adhere to Medical Teams International’s practice policies and procedures for dispensing medicines, in particular those relating to controlled drugs and ensuring respect of confidentiality in dispensing.
  • Complete reconciliation of stock orders from the facility store to the dispensing units. Maintain accurate dispensing records and regularly reporting them to his/her technical reference. Ensuring returned and out-of-date medication is safely removed to a well designated quarantine zone for unwanted pharmaceuticals, separated from the normal stock.
  • Organize and clean the dispensing area, ensuring cleanliness and care in handling medicines to avoid contamination and mix-up. Maintaining dispensary equipment, ensuring it is clean, accurate and in a good state of repair.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of the dispensary by admitting only authorized personnel and ensuring that all medicines are stored as appropriate. Reporting immediately to the technical reference on any problem arising in the service (especially loss, theft, quality problems with medicines (abnormal changes in colour, consistency, and odour) damage of medical equipment or medicines).
  • Carry outpatient Therapeutic Education (PTE) and interact with patient using a patient-based approach to accompany chronic disease (HIV, TB, etc.) patients along their visits. Receiving patients, informing about treatment and adherence, giving appointment for the next drug delivery. JOB SUMMARY                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

The IT Officer is responsible for the delivery of consistent, information systems to support MTI’s programs within Tanzania. The IT Officer works closely with the Headquarters IT team in planning, budgeting, implementation and management of IT services. This position supports the IT needs of all Tanzania offices and staff and identifies, develops, implements and supports cost-effective technology to facilitate the services provided by Medical Teams.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

  • Ensure consistent user support to all staff, including identifying and mentoring field office staff in each location to assist in troubleshooting IT issues.
  • Serve as project manager for all IT projects, collaborating with management and Headquarters staff to identify technology needs and ensure solutions meet program requirements.
  • Steward IT materials and assets, ensuring assets are issued and returned in line with Medical Teams policies
  • Manage and coordinate the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of all user systems, including computers, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and voice services.
  • Act as focal point to connectivity service providers and ensure stable connection levels are maintained in all locations.
  • Supervise, plan and provide network security.
  • Ensure valid software licensing for end-user systems and services and plan for renewals and new purchases, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements on all Medical Teams user systems.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to identify user needs, write technical evaluations, conduct vendor price comparisons and develop proposals for IT assets; coordinate with Headquarters IS department and Procurement Officer to budget and procure new and replacement equipment.
  • Track IT budget and advise management on budget related matters.
  • Support field operations staff in the identification and deployment of health information systems (HIS) ensuring appropriate access control and the security of staff and patient information.
  • Assess staff training needs and implement training and mentorship in effective use of Medical Teams information systems, collaboration tools and storage repositories.
  • Manage airtime and data subscriptions and disseminate to staff according to Medical Teams policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to increased adoption of Medical Teams standard IT systems through promotion and training of staff in policies, procedures and systems.

 JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing HR support to management on talent management within the Tanzania program on recruitment, Inductions, contract management, starter process and performance management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment

  • Support managers in plan and enforcing guidelines and criteria for personnel recruitment, interview, and selection as per Medical Teams recruitment processes and in compliance with local regulations.
  • Support the recruitment processes including, placing adverts, dealing with responses and correspondence; ensuring prompt long listing and short-listing; facilitating the interviewing process and taking part in the interviews, as may be required.
  • Promptly take up reference checks, initiate pre-employment processes, obtained responses and advised the respective managers.
  • Prepared contracts and contracts renewals, and keep management informed of important dates in staff contracts eg end of contract dates, review dates, etc).
  • Developed and maintained a recruitment database.
  • Ensured that all vacancy bulletins are widely circulated among program teams.

Coordinate Onboarding process

  • Ensure that all new staff complete the relevant and necessary paperwork required for on boarding and that induction schedules are prepared in good time and all preparatory procedures for starters are completed such as issuance of staff ID’s.
  • Liaise with HR Officer Payroll and benefits to ensure that new staff are enrolment in relevant staff benefit schemes and they are included in Payroll.
