Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is looking for a qualified Research
Scientist to join the Transmission Zero Project. The Research Scientist
will be responsible for assisting in performing comprehensive laboratory
experiments involving analysis of DNA, RNA, and protein under
supervision, contributing to conducting microinjection of samples with
DNA constructs, subsequent screening and characterization of gene edited
samples through microscopy under supervision.

He/she will also be responsible for contributing to optimization of experimental protocols and maintenance of laboratory equipment and maintaining accurate and detailed records of all performed experiments.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in molecular biology,
genetics, biotechnology, or a related field, with knowledge of safety
protocols and laboratory practices in molecular biology related
research.

The Research Officer has to be an expert in molecular biology with a specialization in biotechnology and related studies, this role demands a robust understanding of molecular biology techniques.
Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is looking for qualified research officers to
join the Transmission Zero Project. who will be responsible for
mandatory compliance with safety protocols within a biosafety level 3
laboratory (BSL3) facility, assist in performing comprehensive
laboratory experiments involving analysis of DNA, RNA, and protein under
supervision and maintain accurate and detailed records of all
performed experiments.
The Research Officers will also assist in execution of genetic manipulations, including design of DNA constructs through gene editing applications such as CRISPR-Cas9 technology under supervision and contribute to adaptation and maintenance of malaria parasite cultures for experimental studies under supervision.

He/she will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are executed efficiently, meeting deadlines, and achieving objectives. This role requires strong Project skills, attention to detail, leadership abilities, and the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a Master’s in Project management, or Master’s
in Monitoring and evaluation or related field with proven experience in
project management, preferably in a similar role and proficiency in
project management tools and software.

The Field Worker (Technician) will be responsible for conducting research activities on mosquito borne diseases and its surveillance.
Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is looking for a qualified Field Worker
to join the Transmission Zero Project. The Research Scientist will be
responsible for conducting research based on mosquito borne diseases and
its surveillance, ensure all data and samples collected from the
experiments are properly recorded and stored and to comply with
adherence to mosquito borne diseases and surveillance project
implementation protocol.
He/she will also be responsible for ensuring systematic and proper handling and management of data and support Field Supervisor/Research Officer in data analysis and report writing.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must be holders of Secondary Education or Certificate
of sciences in Laboratory Technology or any other related field with 2
years’ research experience in vector control and biology and rearing
laboratory mosquito colonies.
