Role purpose:
To maintain the Telco Infra & PacketCore operational
activities by controlling, managing and supporting the day to day
operations; to ensure highest possible network uptime, achieving KPI
targets, operational excellence as well as efficiency in the operation
processes and cost. Ensuring there is E2E quality of experience to end
users
Key accountabilities and decision ownership
•Packet Core Operation: Control and operational management of the
Packet Core network domain in order to deliver end-to-end network
availability and KPI target; to ensure preventive, reactive and
corrective maintenance is done as required; ensuring regular updates are
performed as per vendor recommendations; maintaining and emphasizing
system security in Packet Core and its network domain.
•IP design and optimization: Design and implement IP Networks that will cutter for current and future demand, with network
•Availability at the heart of the design; monitor and optimize to
ensure the optimal paths are always preferred. Manage corporate
customers connectivity E2E
•Packet Core Planning and Organization: Involved in the evolution
and roadmap of the Packet Core network environment and its associated
network elements, in order to advise the business on optimal and up to
date solutions that will make Vodacom the market leader.
•Incident Management: Provide support for incident management –
escalation, reporting, updating, root cause analysis and recommendation
•Cloud Infra: Manage and monitor infra resources; create, onboard
and manage the life-cycle of VNF/VM/VNFC. Collaborate with application
owners in resolving issues related to Infra and/or hypervisor
•BCM / DRP: Ensure all BCM and DRP are in place and in accordance with Vodacom policy
Core competencies, knowledge and experience
•At least 2 years’ experience in Telecommunications Operations
•Experience of working with multiple suppliers / vendors / partners
•Proven experience in IP environment
•Problem Analysis and resolution

Must have technical/professional qualifications:
•University Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Science, Computer Engineering, computer science or equivalent
•Certifications in IP related fields CCNA, JNCA, HCIA, is an added advantage
•Knowledge of mobile telecommunications/GSM network architectures/ technologies
•Understanding of Cloud Infra architecture
•Proven knowledge in Unix/Linux
•Programing languages such as C/C++, Python e.t.c
