- Provide weekly/ monthly report and the progress of the program to team leader.

Data collection and reporting
- Proper documentation of progress of the people with communication challenges.
- Make sure that the students attending preschool are well documented and the report is submitted to intregrated team leader.
- Make sure that data policy is highly repected following DRC protocal on data sharing.

- Ensure efficient and effective communication among people with communication challenges and their care giver.
- Lead the translation of IEC materials to sign language.
- Make sure that the need assessment of people with communication challenges is conducted and well communicated for proper addressing of their concerns.
Logistics Duties
- Take care of equipment’s and supplies for the job.
- Ensure working equipment’s are in good condition and replenish/repairs when out of order.
- Reports immediately any security incidence/issue detected in the DRC premises.

Essential Experience
- Must have minimum of 2 years’ experience communication on sign language.
- Empathetic, patient and well organized especially communication to people with communication challenges.
- Excellent in critical thinking to accurately assess students’ attending preschool on sign language their progress and adjust lessons based on their needs.
- In addition, a person with good communication skills including communicating with caregivers (older people) parents, other teachers, administrators and children under their supervision.
- Innovative and abilities to conceive of different ways of reaching people with communication challenges and guiding them to progress field experience in emergency context is highly desirable.
- Cultural sensitivity, and commitment and understanding of the values of DRC. Good communication skills.
Education background

Protection Assistant ( Community Based and Birth Registration) at Danish Refugee Council

Overall purpose of the role:
The Protection Community Based & Birth Registration assistant (CPCB&BRO) works as part of DRC’s team under the direct supervision of the Protection Team Leader (CP) and guidance support of the Protection coordinator. The role is based in Kasulu and shall conduct regular field visits to the host villages near Nyarugusu refugee camp.
The CPCB&BRO will provide leadership oversight by supporting both Burundian and Congolese newborn children, to attain birth certificates upon birth and mobilize refugee communities to play an effective role in protecting the rights of children. The assistant will also establish and strengthen community-based structures and support their activities which monitor, prevent, and respond to child protection concerns. He will also work in collaboration with other sectors including case management, PSS and other agencies operating in the camp.
Program Responsibilities:
- Support the nomination /forming of community-based child protection structures, including child protection committee (CPCs), child clubs and foster support groups and ensure they are functional as per agreed TORs.
- Actively contribute to the capacity building of child protection structure through targeted training and collaboration with humanitarian partner (eg on community mobilization, PRA techniques, identifying and responding to child protection issues)
- Adhere to child protection policy and reporting procedures.
- Liaise with zone leaders and parents to introduce DRC programme activities and encourage community involvement in programme implementation and monitoring.
- Support structures to promote the inclusion of marginalized and minority groups and ensure meaningful child participation in child protection activities.
- To ensure that child protection community based, and Birth Registration social workers and incentive workers are following appropriate procedures for supporting refugee mothers with birth certificates to the newborn children.
- Preparation and conducting of community awareness raising meetings/ sessions with refugee and religious leaders in the camp and host community on the issues affecting children and birth registration.
- Act as link between refugee and host community to address the issue of child labour both to refugees and host community.
- Collaborate with medical partners in making sure that relevant birth documents with correct information including names of the newborn babies are provided on time.
- Liase and collaborate with key stakeholder such as MoHA, district RITA officer on collection of B1 forms, processing of birth certificates and making sure that, they are dispatched to the camp for distribution, in a timely manner.
- Making sure all queries related to birth registration and issuance of birth certificates are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Ensure that all birth certificates are scanned, photocopied, uploaded, filled, and kept confidential.
- Create a database, seize and updates to be shared with CP team leader on monthly basis.
- Participate in coordination meetings in the camps, and in bilateral meetings with key partners: Present (report on BR development) where need be, clarify and respond to issues related to birth registration.
- Adhere to DRC SOPs and guidelines, policies, tools, handbook, and guidelines and ensure that project activities are implemented in accordance with project agreements.
Data collection and reporting
- With support from Information Management officer, MEAL department, CP team leader track indicators, maintain, update and analyse data on Birth registration and indicator.
- With support from CP Team leader, prepare and submit timely and quality weekly, monthly, quality, and other donor reports as per the donor requirements. Accountable to meet reporting deadline.
- Support and working closely with CP Information Management officer and M&E on program data collection, track indicators, maintain, update, and analyse data on Birth registration and community-based child protection structure activity and indicator.
- In collaboration with CP Team leader, CPIM officer and M&E department, participate in CP rapid assessment, birth registration and/or other CP related-assessment, and contribute to the CP and birth registration overall intervention strategy based on feedback received from community structure throughout community mobilization and engagement.
Program management
- With support and the supervision of CP Team leader participate in all prevention budget planning; accountable for developing and maintaining work plans, spending and procurement plans, tracking expenditures and ensure all prevention activities are allowable and allocated according to DRC and donor compliance and regulations.
- Build the knowledge and skills of community-based groups to be able to advocate, respond and prevent CP risks.
- Communicate any issue raised by Incentive workers to CP Team leaders in a timely manner including recruitment of the new incentive staff.

- Experience with refugees will be an added advantage.

Overall purpose of the role:
This position is responsible for the supervision and delivery of the Protection and Inclusion activities in the field. The protection assistant will oversee the effective support in the direct implementation, monitoring and evaluation of protection related activities at the designated level. S/he will work under the direct supervision of a Protection Team Leader (PSN). The protection officer shall supervise the functionality of Age, gender and disability Friendly Space, Active Aging Clubs and CBMs to ensure PSN activities are implemented.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist the Community outreach team in the collection of data using tools developed and agreed upon.
- Give feedback on the project community meetings with beneficiaries and Community.
- Participate in awareness raising activities for commemoration of different international days for people with specific needs such as international albinism day, world refugee day, elder abuse awareness day etc and ensure PSN rights are mainstreamed throughout the commemoration events.
- Support people with mobility challenges to access services provided in the camps and organize transport for them during distribution days.
- Facilitate the identification and linkage of people with specific needs in kitchen gardening, bio briquette production and engage the most vulnerable PSN in sources of generating activities to foster their livelihood.
- Facilitate distribution of cash-based support and in-kind motivation to targeted PSNs and ensure that all PSNs’ concerns related to distribution are worked upon on timely manner.
- Provide assistive devices and techniques to people with disabilities, especially to people with physical and hearing impairment including physiotherapy, sign language, wheelchairs, commode chairs, clutches, and walking sticks etc.
- Conduct capacity building training to care takers of homebound patients and ensure they receive necessary material and technical support.
- Organize and support recreational activities and sports events to PSN for their improved psycho-social support and wellbeing as well as promoting their talents.
- Participate in setting up structures of PSN groups, capacitate them in identified needs, hold regular meetings with them for information sharing and capacity building.
- Ensure risk assessment and protection solutions is done for assigned zone.
- Ensure proper reporting of PSN Protection issues in his/her zone in collaboration with protection assistants.
- Ensure that PSN Safeguarding standards are considered in the activities with support from integrated protection team leader.

Overall purpose of the role:
The Gender-based violence (GBV) Prevention and Advocacy Assistant works as part of DRC’s team under the direct supervision of the GBV Team Leader and the guidance and support of the Protection Coordinator. The role is based in Kasulu/Kibondo and will also support GBV Prevention and Advocacy Officer to conduct regular field visits to the host villages nearby Nyarugusu and Nduta refugee camps. The position holder will require working with women, men, boys, and girls both from Nduta/Nyarugusu refugee camps and the local community in the villages nearby the camp.
The GBV Prevention & Advocacy Assistant is responsible to work closely with the GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer for the implementation of prevention and risk reduction activities, including risk identification, and efforts that mobilize the community and camp leadership in risk reduction and preventive strategies against GBV. This includes targeted awareness raising, outreach, and training on GBV issues affecting women, men, boys, and girls in the assigned refugee camp/village and partners to reduce risks/prevent GBV, and also raising awareness on GBV Prevention & legal services provided in the camp. She/he will work closely with other GBV team members, DRC sectors, and implementing partners.
Program Responsibilities:
- Participate/support in risk reduction activity and the identification of risks to women, men, boys, and girls in assigned refugee camps and host communities, by carrying out regular GBV safety audits situational analysis, and consultations with women, men, boys, and girls and identify trends and changes in the context important for consideration in risk reduction activities.
- Work with GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer to conduct, monitor, and report on the Engage Men in Accountable Practices (EMAP) activity.
- In collaboration with GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer, GBV Prevention & Advocacy Assistant will conduct community mobilization and make the follow-up to address longer-term risks for women, men, boys, and girls, the inclusion of community consultation, feedback, and participatory approaches.
- Support GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer to promote timely referral in awareness sessions, information dissemination for women, men, boys& girls in the community, promoting accessibility for GBV services.
- Participate in the preparatory meeting of key international events such as the Commemoration of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and International Women’s Day.
- Prepare and share a minute of the various meeting that he/she will participate in and share with GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer for her/his action.
- Work with GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer to conduct/organize and facilitate training and workshops on gender and GBV-related issues for implementing partners, MHA, DRC staff, UNHCR, women’s groups, refugee community leaders, religious leaders, youth groups, NGO workers and any other identified groups.
- Work closely with the GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer for the development of GBV Program budgets/proposals in collaboration with the GBV Team Leader.
- In absence of the GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer, GBV Prevention & Advocacy assistant will participate in other key sector meetings in the camp to advocate for gender inclusion, representation, and consideration of other potential risk factors for women, and girls.
- Work closely with GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer in data interpretation and use it to identify information gaps/intervention areas and develop campaign messages to address GBV issues in the camp and host community.
- Collaborate with GBV Prevention & Advocacy to conduct risk monitoring of GBV to inform risk reduction activities.
- Conduct awareness on Men’s accountability in ending Violence Against Women and Girls.
- Support the existing GBV committee for tracking and reporting all GBV actions that happen in the zone/village to GBV Prevention and Advocacy Officer and GBV Team Leader for further action.
- Work closely with GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer to prepare work plans and reports (weekly/monthly) on the activities and submit them timely to GBV Team Leader.
- Ensure full cooperation with other GBV Prevention and Advocacy assistants and act on their behalf during their absence.
- Identify and ensure the availability of resources needed for the implementation of GBV Prevention & Advocacy activities and share to GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer on time.
- Perform any other activities assigned by the GBV Team Leader.
Data collection and reporting
- Support and work closely with GBV Information Management officer and M&E on program data collection.
- In collaboration with the M&E department, participate in GBV rapid assessment and/or other GBV program related assessment, and contribute to the GBV overall intervention strategy based on feedback received from women, men, boys, and girls throughout community mobilization and engagement.
- Use of GBV Prevention M&E tools sufficiently and systematically.
Program management
- Build the knowledge and skills of Prevention/outreach incentive social workers and community-based groups to be able to advocate, respond and prevent GBV.
- Engaging with community activists and EMAP graduates to obtain the network and working relationship.
- Communicate any incentive staff issue to the supervisor on time. Any recruitment of the new incentive staff must obtain supervisor approval.
Common Duties
- Attend and participate in training identified and organized by your supervisor.
- Follow any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from Country Director.
- Support the DRC Tanzania Country Strategy Action Plan implementation in the Kasulu and Kibondo field office, coordinate with other DRC actors particularly CBP, CP, and Safety & Access to Justice to achieve the DRC strategy outcome with the support of the Protection Manager and Protection Coordinator.
- Report any violations of the DRC Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Code of Conduct (Tanzania and worldwide) as per the DRC reporting mechanism. The reporting of violations is an obligation on the part of all staff members.
- Assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of sexual abuse and exploitation of refugees by DRC and other humanitarian workers.
- Represent DRC at interagency meetings as assigned.
- Assist in control and proper usage of stationery and other items relating to work.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.

Protection Officer (Prevention and Advocacy Officer) at Danish Refugee Council
Founded in 1956, The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities – in more than 40 countries around the world. DRC has been implementing emergency response projects in Tanzania since the onset of the Burundi refugee crisis in 2015 in three refugee camps in the Kigoma Region at the border with Burundi. DRC’s integrated projects for refugees, asylum seekers and host communities comprise sectors such as Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), Community Based Protection, Legal, GBV (Gender based violence), Child Protection, People with special needs, and Livelihoods.
Overall purpose of the role:
The Gender based violence (GBV) Prevention and Advocacy Officer works as part of DRC’s team under the direct supervision of the GBV Team Leader and guidance and support of the Protection Coordinator and Protection Manager. The role is based in Kasulu/Kibondo and shall conduct regular field visits to the host villages near Nyarugusu and Nduta refugee camp. The position holder will require working with women, men, boys and girls both from Nduta/Nyarugusu refugee camps and local community in the villages near by the camp.
The GBV Prevention & Advocacy Officer is responsible for the implementation of prevention and risk reduction activities, including risk identification, and efforts that mobilize the community and camp leadership in risk reduction and preventive strategies against GBV. This includes targeted awareness raising, outreach and trainings on GBV issues affecting women, men, boys and girls in the assigned refugee camp/village and partners to reduce risks/prevent GBV. She/he will work closely with other GBV team members, DRC sectors and implementing partners.
Program Responsibilities:
- With support of the GBV team leader, prepare individual, monthly, quarterly and annual GBV prevention work plans.
- Work with GBV Team leader to support in risk reduction activity and the identification of risks to women, men, boys and girls in assigned refugee camp and host community, by carrying out regular GBV safety audits situational analysis and consultations with women, men, boys and girls and identify trends and changes in the context important for consideration in risk reduction activities.
- Conduct, monitoring and reporting of the Engage Men in Accountable Practices (EMAP) activity.
- Conduct and follow community mobilization strategies to address longer term risks for women, men, boys and girls, inclusion of community consultation, feedback, and participatory approaches.
- Promote timely referral in awareness session, information dissemination for women, men, boys& girls in the community, promoting accessibility for GBV services.
- Conduct/organize key international events such as commemoration of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence and International Women’s day
- Work with GBV Team leader to Conduct/organize and facilitate trainings and workshops on gender and GBV related issues for implementing partners, MHA, DRC staff, UNHCR, women’s groups, refugee community leaders, religious leaders, youth groups, NGO workers and any other identified groups.
- Conduct information dissemination utilizing DRC-developed materials/translation, IEC materials and community engagement, dialogue and reflection tools to ensure ongoing engagement with various groups in the community to tackle the root causes of GBV.
- Assist with the development of budgets/proposals in collaboration with other senior staff.
- Participate in other key sector meetings in the camp to advocate for gender inclusion, representation, and consideration of other potential risk factors to women, and girls.
- Participate in data interpretation and use it to identify information gaps/intervention areas and develop campaign messages.
- Conduct risk monitoring of GBV to inform risk reduction activities.
- Conduct prevention activities in line with program workplan, and prevention strategies.
- In collaboration with other sectors, and actors, ensure the community meets its needs by advocating for identified needs in the community.
Data collection and reporting
- With support from GBVIMS officer track indicators, maintain, update, and analyse data on GBV prevention activity and indicator.
- With support from GBV Team leader, prepare and submit timely and quality weekly, monthly, quality and other donor reports as per the donor requirements. Accountable to meet reporting deadline.
- Support and working closely with GBV Information Management officer and M&E on program data collection, track indicators, maintain, update, and analyse data on GBV prevention activity and indicator.
- In collaboration with GBV Team leader, GBVIMS officer and M&E department, participate in GBV rapid assessment and/or other GBV program related assessment, and contribute to the GBV overall intervention strategy based on feedback received from women, men, boys and girls throughout community mobilization and engagement.
- Program management
- With support and the supervision of GBV Team leader participate in all prevention budget planning; accountable for developing and maintaining work plans, spending and procurement plans, tracking expenditures and ensure all prevention activities are allowable and allocated according to DRC and donor compliance and regulations.
- Build the knowledge and skills of Prevention/outreach incentive social workers and community-based groups to be able to advocate, response and prevent GBV.
- Engaging with community activist and EMAP graduate to obtain the network and working relationship.
- Communicate any incentive staffs’ issue to supervisor in a timely manner. Any recruitment of the new incentive staff must obtain GBV Team leader’ approval.

Overall purpose of the role:
The Protection officer will be responsible for provision of physiotherapy service to Person with physical disabilities, disorder and injuries including children and elderly persons in Nduta and Nyarugusu camps. Under the supervision of the Integrated Protection Team Leader and in collaboration with other integrated social workers and in consultation with the medical partners’ staff s/he will identify, assess, and make treatment plans with appropriate interventions in physiotherapy with the beneficiaries.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional assessment to Identify persons with physiotherapy needs.
- Conduct comprehensive assessment to persons of concern with regards to their rehabilitation needs and based on the assessment, identify problems, and develop a treatment plan for interventions with the beneficiary, in consultation with the medical professionals.
- Conduct home visits/ follow up sessions to monitor on the progress of persons of concern, conducting, advising on techniques and exercises.
- Prescribe, procure, provide, and train persons of concern on the use of assistive and/or mobility devices to beneficiaries.
- Ensure good communication, with help of translators, with beneficiary at all times throughout assessment, setting of goals and explanation of treatment.
- Conduct referrals of vulnerable Persons with disability to partner agencies and follow up to facilitate access to external services not offered by DRC.
- Document beneficiary data accurately and maintain a secure beneficiary database and activity.
- Accurately update the PSN database and tracker on a regular basis for all beneficiaries and interventions conducted at the field level.
- Participate in sensitization, dialogue, and mediation sessions with the wider population about issues persons with disability for support in identification of vulnerable cases.
- Identify and strengthen Community structures through engaging community leaders, camp management and other stakeholders to ensure that the persons of concern receive adequate support at the community level.
- Attend and instruct planned trainings for parents and caregivers within the community.
- Assist in preparing daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, progress notes, on time.
- Use appropriate data collection tools and submit assessments and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
