Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is an Agency under the Ministry of Works and Transport which is responsible for the Development and Maintenance of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. Apart from this is also responsible in conducting Axle Load Control Operations and Airport Construction.
Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania entered into a Contract for the UPGRADING OF NYAMWAGE – UTETE ROAD (33.7 KM) TO BITUMEN STANDARD CONTRACT NO: TRD/HQ/1036/2022/23
As a measure to strengthen Capacity of discharging TANROADS’ functions effectively, the Regional Manager’s Office TANROADS – Coast, on behalf of Chief Executive, seeks to recruit qualified and competent Tanzanian Citizen to fill Vacancy posts for the specific duties on short term basis.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and competent Tanzanian to fill vacancies in the Region. Successful applicants must be ready to work for considerable length of time in Coast Region within the project area when situations warrant.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Appointment will be on Contract Terms of One (1) year renewable subject to satisfactory performance, efficiency and effectiveness.
CAD TECHNICIAN (1 Post)
The CAD Expert shall be fully responsible for roads and bridges CAD Drawings, preparing and running Animations for the projects.
She/He must possess a minimum of Diploma in Civil or Highway Engineering from recognized Institution. She/He must be a registered with ERB as Civil Technician. She/He must have five (5) years specific experience in drawing and drafting of Road/Highway Works and construction. She/He must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road construction projects in the Last 5 years. In addition, He/She must have a working experience of at least 3 years in Sub-Sahara countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
ASISTANT SURVEYOR (1 Post)The Assistant Surveyor shall be fully responsible for conduction and supervising the survey team. He/She will be responsible for planning of the fieldwork, select known survey reference points, and determine the precise location of important features in the survey area. He/She shall be responsible for searching legal records, look for evidence of previous references survey points (geodetic reference points and national benchmarks) and analyses the data to determine the location of boundary lines and record the results of the results of the survey, verify the accuracy of data, and prepare plans, maps and reports.
She/He must have a holder of Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Land Surveying. She/He must have Five (5) years specific experience in road design and construction. She/He must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road construction projects of similar magnitude and complexity within the last 2 years. In addition, He/She must have a working experience of at least 3 years in Sub – Sahara countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

The Topographical Surveyor shall be fully responsible for conduction and supervising the survey team. He/She will be responsible for planning of the fieldwork, select known survey reference points, and determine the precise location of important features in the survey area. BRIDGE/DRAINAGE ENGINEER (1 Post)
The Bridge/Drainage Engineer shall be fully responsible for structural analysis, designing of bridge/drainage elements and detailing. He/She will be responsible for the assessment of existing Bridges and design of new Bridges and all drainage structures along the project road including submission of the report. He/She should have the ability to read and interpret project specifications.
He/She must possess Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification. He/She must have at least Ten (10) of specific experience in road design related to similar assignment. He/She must have served as a Bridge/Drainage Engineer on at least two (2) projects of similar magnitude and complexity within the last 10 years. Post graduate qualification in Structural/Bridge Engineering is an added advantage. Knowledge in computer applications and fluency in written and spoken English are mandatory.

MATERIALS ENGINEER (1 Post)
The Soils/Materials Engineer shall be responsible for conducting and supervising the materials investigation with a view to achieving optimal design and construction strategy. The Soil/Materials Engineer shall carry out the pavement design and should be conversant with current practice in testing and pavement construction techniques.
She/He must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Pavement or Materials Engineering. Postgraduate qualification in Pavement or Materials Engineering is an added advantage. She/He must have a minimum of Ten (10) years of specific experience in Pavement/Materials matters related to road works. She/He must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road projects of similar magnitude and complexity in the Last 10 years. She/He shall be responsible for ensuring the quality of all materials to be incorporated in the works, as well as the completed works, conform to the contract specifications. In addition, He/She must have a working experience of at least 3 years in Sub-Sahara countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
HIGHWAY ENGINEER (1 Post)
The Highway Engineer shall be fully responsible for the supervision of the construction in accordance with the provision of Contract. He/She shall supervise the construction works with due diligence and efficiency and in accordance with sound technical, administrative, financial and economic practices. He/She shall perform all duties associated with such tasks to ensure that only the best construction practices are followed and that the final product is in all respects equal to, or better than that specified, at the most economic costs and is carried out in full compliance with the governing specifications.
She/he must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Highway Engineering. Postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is an added advantage. She/he must have a minimum of Ten (10) years of specific experience related to road design and construction supervision. She/he must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) projects for construction of bituminous roads of similar magnitude and complexity in the last 10 years. His/Her duties shall comprise road surveys, construction of pavement structure, measuring of quantities and management of site operations. In addition, he/she must have a working experience of at least 3 years in Sub-Sahara countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
