Marketing Trainee
What this position is about – Purpose:
Working closely with the Strategic Insight team to carry out specific investigative analysis of JTI Tanzania and Tanzanian market data at national and regional level, as well as at brand, customer and consumer level in order to gather valuable insights as an input into company strategies. To work closely with all Marketing & Sales departments in determining needs for consumer and customer insights and designing appropriate research projects to gather those insights.
What will you do – Responsibilities:
- Mining and analyzing data (sales, visits), and producing reports to understand brand performance at total and in regional levels. Sharing the reports with respective stakeholders and helping them in understanding the reports and how to put them into action plans
- Conduct ad hoc research to unearth any issues facing JTI brands, and customer performance and use the findings to recommend corrective actions
- Conduct market audits and create reports that will address the gaps found in the market/branches
- Track and report competitor activities to Marketing & Sales management on a frequent basis
- Developing and continually improving sales information and reporting systems (TME Lite reporting templates, etc.) as well as ensuring continuous follow-up and sound analysis of consumer, shopper, competitive, and trade data
- Support accurate communication materials distribution to branches as per Cycle Plans guides as well as monitor deliveries and execution in collaboration with Retail activation supervisor
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the management
- Degree in Business Administration / Marketing / Statistics or a related field
- Experience in Market Research is added advantage

What this position is about – Purpose:
Supervise all tax-related matters for the company and ensure tax compliance while effectively supporting the business. As a senior member of the local finance team, the incumbent will be required to interact on strategic matters and direction-making to ensure alignment is reached with RTD/Treasury/GM/CFO.
What will you do – Responsibilities:
- To ensure full compliance with statutory tax legislation. That is, ensuring that tax returns and tax payments are correctly prepared and submitted to the revenue authority on time, precise taxes are paid on time, etc. to avoid penalties and other non-compliance risk exposures. This involves observing statutory tax deadlines and proper interpretation of the provisions of the laws
- To monitor month-end closing schedules and clearance for all tax accounts and in all ledgers (IFRS, Statutory, and tax). Review of taxes and completion of GL tax accounts and tax stamps reconciliations on time, communicate and suggest rectification measures of any abnormally discovered to responsible staff for rectification of the abnormally
- Assisting regarding tax risk management and reporting, including but not limited to support on tax provisioning, Q-tax packs, Entity Tax Compliance Reporting, uncertain tax position, and keeping the indirect tax manual and Internal controls up to date
- Assisting Tax and Treasury manager in providing tax advice to the business with reference to the laws and regulations issued by the government. Keep track of industry trends and changes related to taxes
- Maintaining a good relationship with TRA and handling various Tax audits as they may arise from time to time.
- University Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with relevant Tax, Treasury, and Accounting qualifications

- Fluent in English and local language(s): verbal and written
- Effective communication skills in English
- Sound knowledge of tax laws and regulations. Excellent user of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and SAP.

Branch Operator
What this position is about – Purpose
Perform various branch operations, such as Inventory control and management, shipment ordering, organizing stock, sorting, loading, unloading, and receiving goods and POSM. Ensure effective and secure collection of funds, accounting, banking, credit control, debt collection, and funds are transferred to Head Office, according to Branch Accounting Manual. Ensuring contribution to efficiency in Logistics costs, examining stocks for defects and damage, eliminating write-offs by clearly abiding by the FIFO rule, and maintaining 100% product and warehouse hygiene.
What will you do – Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper custody, receipt, issuance, arrangement, and overall management of branch cigarette stocks and POSM materials and related documentation
- Perform daily stock reconciliation, ensure system and physical stock match, and report any discrepancies
- Advice and contribute ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures and increase efficiency in Logistics costs
- Assist FSM/FF by initiating sales orders by phone, engaging customers, gathering and documenting customers’ information, and listening to customers to generate sales orders.
- Ensure adequate stock within the warehouse via timely and appropriate brand mix ordering, proper inspection for damage or discrepancies, recording, and reporting.
- Ensures security and safety of stocks by adhering to all safety regulations including fire.
- Maintain appropriate and consistent Daily and monthly reporting for collections and stock position, good customer care and enforce overall compliance to Branch Accounting guidelines.
- Check all sales invoices for accuracy and completeness and ensure are intact with related payment documents and route settlement per field force.
- Ensure all sales proceeds are reconciled, verified, secured, and banked on time and supported by respective deposit slips endorsed by the bank
- Follow up on compliance with payment terms and credit limits, ensuring excess amounts are collected as cash top-ups and any anomalies reported accordingly.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and daily submission of SRTs for customs clearance in SAP and observe FIFO for assigned branches.
