The
Tanzanian Children’s Fund are seeking Boarding Staff and Secondary
Teachers for our partner Secondary School to form an integral part of
our team as we transition to hosting all form 4 students in 2023. Our
partner school is a government school in Karatu District that is jointly
managed through a joint management contract between our organization
and the local government. The overall goal of this management contract
is to create a solid foundation for academic excellence, raise the
standards of education, ensure that all students (no matter how poor)
have the opportunity for quality secondary education, and improve the
overall school environment.
1. House Parent
Primary Responsibilities
- Assure the smooth running of the Boarding House emphasizing good communication and a sense of family amongst students within the boarding school.
- Serve as a professional role model for RVCF at all times to all members of Oldeani Secondary School, advocating for all of RVCF’s goals and policies diligently.
- Together with OSS School Leadership, oversee and manage the conduct and discipline of students boarding at OSS applying OSS’s rules consistently
- Actively support the OSS School leadership (Head of School, Academic Master, RVCF Education Director and RVCF Programme Coordinator) by encouraging students to participate in clubs, activities and trips
- Collate weekly student monitoring notes and raise concerns to the OSS School Leadership.
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
- Be a positive role model in all aspects of professional and private life
- Accurately report and collaborate with the Head of School, Academic Master, RVCF Education Director and
- RVCF Programme Coordinator) on all matters relating to boarding.
- Ensure student physical, emotional, and mental well-being and positive student personal development
- Promote academic achievement, supporting students of all levels with their daily studies

2. Geography Teacher
Primary Responsibilities:
- Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to all students in the class. Lesson plans to be submitted to School Leadership.
- Adapting and differentiating lesson plans and activities according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students.
- Incorporating student-centered pedagogies into your lesson plans, so as to engage different types of learners.
- Using alternatives to corporal punishment and building strong intrinsic motivation within students.
- Assessing students, correcting work and providing timely and accurate feedback.
- Being a role model for other teachers and students, ensuring professionalism in every aspect of your job.
- Following and advocating for the goals and values of The Tanzanian Children’s Fund.
- Attending all assigned supervision duties, including but not limited to, teacher-on-duty, uji period, lunch period, school cleaning periods, extra-curricula activities and additional classes.
- Modifying lessons, discipline and practice in response to feedback from the Education Director, Head Master or their designee.
- Dressing in a professional manner in-line with government regulations.
- Ability to engage and motivate young people.
- Abiding by the teacher code of conduct and enforcing the student code of conduct at all times.
- Showing cooperation and respect in a professional manner with school management, peer teachers, student teachers, volunteers, parents/guardians, school committee members and students.
- Degree level/Diploma qualification from a recognized university in Education-Geography
- Teaching experience preferably with proven performance in National Examinations.
- Fluency in English Language
- Ability to live and work in a remote location
- Able to ensure high discipline of students without using corporal punishment
- Commitment to a full academic year
