Shree Hindu Mandal Hospital (SHM), Dar es Salaam was founded on the 29th June 1919 as a response to the needs of the Hindu Community at the time. In 1931 Shree Hindu Mandal started a public dispensary
as the precursor of what has become the sixty-bed modern Shree Hindu
Mandal Hospital today.

The hospital also offers comprehensive ophthalmology services, physiotherapy services and has a specialized HIV/AIDS, TB and diabetes services. Currently the hospital caters to over 500 outpatients per day, who are served by a total of 381 staff including consultants, specialists, resident doctors and qualified nursing staff and paramedics.
