The Tanzania Maji na Usafi wa Mazingira (MUM)
Activity funded by USAID/Tanzania and implemented by Tetra Tech
International Development (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev)
is currently accepting expressions of interest for qualified candidates
to fill various positions. The purpose of Maji na Usafi wa Mazingira
(MUM) Activity is to expand and sustain the provision and governance of
WASH services by increasing access to sustainable water services;
Increasing access to finance for water, sanitation, and hygiene;
Strengthening the market for sanitation products and services; and
Strengthening basin water boards and water user associations for
stewardship of water resources,
Tetra Tech seeks experienced candidates for the following positions below:
Accounting Assistant (1 Post, Maternity Cover):
Based in Iringa
Underthe
supervision of the Director of Administration and Finance, the
Accounting Assistant will be responsible for providing maternity cover
to the Finance Team for a period of approximately 3 months. The
Accountant Assistant will assist with all bookkeeping, bank accounts and
cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available for effective and
efficient implementation. Specific areas of responsibility include
financial report preparation, payroll preparation, review and submission
to Tetra Tech ARD Home Office, cash flow management. The accountant
assistant will maintain and update accounting and financial control
systems in accordance with USAID regulations (expenses are reasonable,
allowable and allocable) such that Tetra Tech ARD policy transactions
are conducted, processed and recorded as stipulated by the system.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3 years in relevant field or 8 years’ experience of relevant work.
Professional Experience:
Minimum
of 3 years’ experience in an equivalent position, experience in using
QuickBooks accounting software preferred. Experience working in a
similar position with NGO, business or international organizations is
required. Preference for candidates based in Iringa.
Gender Integration and Youth Engagement Specialist (1 Post)
Based in Iringa
Under
the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Party-Technical, the GIYES will
be responsible for gender integration and youth engagement across all
project components. This position involves the development,
implementation and monitoring of a project level gender and youth
strategy to guide these efforts and establishment of and engagement with
the project Youth Advisory Council.
The GIYES will work in
close partnership and coordination with Iris Group (a Tetra Tech
subcontractor), seek input, review and approval from Iris Group for key
technical deliverables (including workshop agendas and materials, gender
and youth-related research and MEL, inputs to communications and SBCC
messages and materials, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent and 7years in relevant field or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10 years in relevant field.
Education:
Educational background in water resources management, public health, environmental management, gender studies, or rural development desired.
Professional experience:
Experience managing/ implementing similar gender and youth engagement programs preferably on donor funded WASH/IWRM programs in East/Southern Africa. Familiarity with the political, social, and cultural context of working in East/Southern Africa.

Proven training and facilitation skills.

Driver: (1 Post)
Based in Iringa
Under the supervision of Administration Manager, the driver will be responsible for driving staff and other authorized passengers for business trips, transporting goods and services (information). Transport is not limited to Iringa and will require frequent trips to rural areas, predominantly Dar Es Salaam, Sumbawanga and Nyasa Basin. Overnight stays will be required at times • Alcohol must not be consumed or present whilst on duty • Ensuring vehicles are maintained in excellent mechanical and clean conditions, regularly checking oil, water, brakes, and brake liquid, tire pressure, battery levels, and the entire vehicle, monthly or every 5,000 km (whichever is first), headlights, brakes, bodywork for dents, etc. Calculates monthly petrol, oil, and lubricant consumption for the daily cash fund and for forwarding monthly vouchers to cost accounting. Runs errands for the project, program or office, e.g. sending letters and messages, paying bills, and buying smaller quantities of office supplies. Completes the vehicle logs correctly and conscientiously in accordance with Tetra Tech ARD requirements.

Qualifications: Education:
- Secondary school education and holds a valid driver’s license
At least 4-6 years’ work experience as a driver with International NGOs. Computer skills necessary for completing reports and preparation travel advance and expense reporting.
