Job Description
Key Accountabilities
1. Business Growth
- Develop an annual business Agribusiness plan for the Unit and contribute to the overall business strategy for the Retail Banking Department to ensure that plans are developed and implemented in line with clear business objectives and goals that support the overall Bank strategy.
- Identify and negotiate business opportunities with Agribusiness clients and develop overall strategies for business development in order to increase the Retail business in line with annual business targets.
- Manage and enhance existing business relationships to ensure the retention of good customers in line with business needs.
- Conduct reviews of the Agribusiness Retail loan portfolio and recommend appropriate interventions to ensure it performs in line with approved performance indicators and targets.
- Liaise with all stakeholders for example, clients, government institutions, the Central Bank and other financial institutions to ensure that the Banks interests are properly represented and safeguarded.
- Prepare all agribusiness reports to ensure sound quality control and recommend appropriate interventions in line with policy.
- Prepare Agribusiness Retail client appraisals and review appraisals and portfolio reports, to ensure credit is granted in line with the credit policies and procedures.
- Review loan portfolios and recommend appropriate interventions to ensure it performs in line with approved performance indicators and targets.
- Contribute towards review of the credit manual to ensure that new developments in the lending, operating, business and regulatory environment are adequately considered and incorporated in the Credit Policy and Credit Manual
- Support branches in selling of bank agribusiness products and services to ensure growth of Assets, deposits and income from the Retail segment in line with business strategy.
- Timely perfection of legal documents and administer reports to ensure proper record keeping and compliance with Bank policies and procedures.
- Provide specialist insight and guidance into a sector in order to strategically inform management decision making and business development, thereby strengthening income and profitability in identified sectors.

2. Product Development
- Team up with Product Development team in developing new agribusiness products.
- Develop and maintain agribusiness product catalogue
- Monitor effectiveness of Agribusiness products by reviewing relevant products reports on a monthly basis to determine the effective of the product.
- In collaboration with Product team, review and advise on agribusiness products pricing periodically to ensure they are remained competitive in the market.
3. Risk Management
- Respond to queries related to agribusiness and provide all necessary information needed during internal and external audit.
- Ensure compliance to agribusiness guidelines in all engagements
- Monitor performance of agribusiness loans on monthly basis and advise prompt action to be taken by branches for delinquent cases.
- Work closely with branches to ensure adherence to all terms and condition of approved loans.
4. Role / Person Specification
4.1 Education and Experience Required
- Masters /Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Agri-business and experience in Agricultural financing Industry
- At least 3 Years’ experience in Agricultural financing
- Extensive experience and knowledge on agribusiness
- Excellent understanding of Agricultural Products

Key Accountabilities
1. Business Management
Collaborate with Manager Islamic Banking in reviewing and developing
annual activity plans for Islamic business with clear objectives and
goals to support the overall Bank’s strategic intent.
Devise and manage initiatives for deposit mobilization initiatives for
Islamic customers to ensure targeted growth in deposits is achieved.
Together with credit unit, initiate, coordinate and conduct capacity
building sessions to Branch members to ensure their performance is
aligned with business goals and objectives
Identify and negotiate Islamic business opportunities and develop
specific plans to acquire business in order to increase Islamic business
portfolio in line with business targets.
Build, manage and enhance business relationships to ensure retention of customers in line with business needs
Review periodically branch performance, analyze performance trends and communicate remedial/improvement strategies.
Monitor Islamic business and advise prompt action to be taken by branches for delinquent cases.
Market scan and analyze market conditions and competitor market analysis
and develop customer focused campaigns to drive high performance.
Create relationships with in-country colleagues and Regional Executives
to ensure that the Islamic banking product set is being marketed in
branches, and to ensure that sales leads are closed.
Support Product Managers in the development and implementation of new Islamic banking products and services.
Provide feedback to the Product Managers based on input received from
the Islamic Banking team on market conditions and product deficiencies
and potential improvements.
Drive the development of specific sales campaigns together with
marketing and product. Create recommendations for incentive plans to
supplement this.

2. Financial Management
The compulsory is expected to be the subject matter expert on all
Islamic Banking strategies, policies and procedures and to act as expert
source of information on all of these items to the bank.
Identify and evaluate improvements in performance and present to the Manager Islamic along with recommendations.
Communicate the overall annual performance targets to Branch Managers,
as well as all other direct reports. Assist in developing individual
targets for direct reports and provide information to Manager Islamic
Banking.
In cases where branches are falling behind agreed targets, assist them
to develop improvement action plans, by providing detailed insight into
practices that have been successfully implemented in other branches.
Also assist in creating specific campaigns to improve performance.
3. Product Development
Develop and maintain a product range of Islamic banking products to ensure customer requirements are met
Ensure all Shari’ah compliance risks are addressed and reported to SAC
along with the solutions during development of the new Shari’ah
products.
Ensure development of the new Shariah compliant products, all Shariah
compliant risks are addressed and reported with the solutions after
studying the ABSA group environment and system
4. Risk Management
Assisting the Manager Islamic Banking and Shari’ah Advisory Committee
(SAC) to ensure compliance including organizing SAC meetings, implement
decisions, actions and Fatwas provided by Manager Islamic and SAC.
Work with relevant stakeholders to close audit findings and ensure that
all audit finding action plans are implemented and addressed.
Ensure that principle risk within the Islamic business is well managed
and reporting criteria is met and submitted to supervisor.
Ensure that group data privacy and information security policies are embedded within the region
5. Job Qualification
5.1 Education and Experience Required

Relationship Manager Microfinance
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
1. Business Growth
- Develop and maintain business relationship with existing and potential customers and act as bank’s key contact person to Microfinance customers
- Initiate and conduct customer engagements such as focus groups, customer forums, workshops aimed at identify customer needs, building and strengthen relationships with customers in order to retain them and create loyalty
- Engagement with various stakeholders for the purpose of growing Micro Small Enterprise business book
- To conduct clinics to Branch staff dealing with Microfinance customers to ensure their performance is aligned with business goals and objectives
- Follow up sales lead and pipelines to maturity across branches.
- Participate in developing operating procedures and processes.
- Review loan portfolio and recommend appropriate interventions to ensure it performs in line with approved performance indicators and targets
- Support Manager Microfinance on Soliciting and managing guarantee funds to enhance security cover to MSE loan portfolio.
