Position purpose:
Ensure the AUMS Camp/ Offices’ general cleanliness is to a high standard as directed by immediate supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe workplace for all employees, contractors and visitors by maintaining compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies & procedures.
- Up-keep and maintenance of the Gardens.
- Maintain High standard of Housekeeping.
- Assist in repairing damaged items in the company housing.
- Assist in setting the barbeque tables for functions.
- Maintaining the buildings.
- Maintaining the water system
- Ensuring inspection and maintenance of gardening tools is carried out on all equipment before use and report all equipment faults to the Supervisor.
- Assist in replacing light bulbs.
- Assist in maintaining the TVs.
- Keep on security at the AUMS admin area
- Removal of all rubbish and disposed of to a designated rubbish dumping area.
- Willing to assist in other areas when required as directed by supervisor.
- Willingness to learn to improve skills and gain further experience in mining.
- Previous experience in mining or heavy industry is preferable.
- Completion of Secondary Education
- Written and verbal English
- Must have valid Tanzanian Driver’s License
- Must have experience in Driving Light Vehicles and general light maintenance skills.
Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position purpose:
This position is responsible for ensuring that all services that are required underground for the development of drives and production, are carried out in an efficient manner as guided by your immediate supervisor and trainer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complies with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions. This includes the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment, prompt reporting of any hazardous situations, which they cannot themselves correct, making the necessary changes to eliminate or control the hazard and reporting immediately any accident or injury which arises in the course of their work.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures that are displayed and amended from time to time.
- Takes reasonable care for their own safety and that of other persons who may be affected by their acts.
- Performs pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensuring inspections and maintenance is carried out on all equipment before use.
- Ensures that all tools are serviceable and safe.
- Must Work to minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity.
- Must carry out standard work place inspection practices and procedures and prepare the areas for drilling, charging or scraping in accordance with mine safety procedures.
- Maintains a high standard of housekeeping.
- Extend ventilation services to areas where needed, which includes hanging ventilation bag and moving / installing secondary fans.
- Extend water and air services to areas where needed.
- Move and install pumps to areas where needed.
- Repair services and equipment within capabilities, such as vent bag, poly pipe and valves.
- Access face and back conditions at the start of the job and scale from height according to site requirements.
- Assist with operations including off-siding operators as required.
- Liaises with the underground shift supervisor to:
- Ensure all work is done in a safe and efficient manner;
- Advise when items of equipment are out of service and when they can be returned to service.
- A minimum of one year’s experience in the Underground Mining Industry or equivalent heavy industry.
- Valid Drivers licence.
- Experience in similar underground role or in heavy industry.
- Basic first aid knowledge
- Relevant Trade Qualification
- Completion of secondary school
- Basic numeracy and verbal/written English

Position purpose:

- Assisting Jumbo Operators with bolting and meshing as required.
- Set up headings with bolt and mesh and assist service crew when possible.
- 6 months mining experience or heavy industry.

Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position purpose:
This position is responsible for carrying out charging of Jumbo development rounds, stripping rounds and longhole stopes in a safe and efficient manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use of a variety of explosives and initiating systems, depending on drill pattern, rock type and hole dimension;
- Handle and transport explosive material in a safe manner according to procedures;
- Charge up holes, down-holes and development drives;
- Charge Up and fire stope blasts according to blast plan;
- Ensure working area is safe for personnel and equipment to perform duties;
- Liaise with Geologists, Engineers and Shift Supervisors to optimize blast designs;
- Prepping Stope Blast Holes and produce and accurate Stope Prep plan;
- Full understanding of Charge Plans and charge Stopes according to plan;
- Have good communication and written skills.
- 5 years Experience in Production Charging;
- Experience with i-kon Charging and Logging;
- Experience Charging with both Emulsion and Anfo;
- Understanding and ability to conduct Density testing of Emulsion.
- Experience in operating a Normet Charmec LC605 charging unit;
- Sound mechanical knowledge of both the Normet and Hypercharge Unit;
- Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License;
- Tanzanian Blast Certificate
- A recent Tanzanian police clearance certificate.
- Flexible and willingness to assist with varied tasks and responsibilities;
- Previously employed in an underground Charge-Up role;
- A strong focus toward safety and hazard identification.
