Tanzania Automotive Technology Centre (TATC), synonymously known as “Shirika la Nyumbu”, was formally established on the 14th December 1985, through a Presidential Order, made under the Public Corporations Act 1969. TATC’s mission is to develop a reputable capacity for automotive engineering by conducting research and innovation, technology transfer and quality assurance services.

ASSISTANT DESIGN ENGINEER III -1 POST
Reports to: Chief Design Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- To design machinery components of engineering system and production tools.
- To conduct design modification and innovation or reverse engineering of system.
- To apply Computer Aided Design in the development and simulation of engineering system.
- To prepare weekly machine loading and ensure timely completion of work orders.
- To conduct material composition analysis and participate in the design of patterns and moulds.

Reports to: Personnel and Administration Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
- To receive files, deliver to the appropriate officer and collects and returns them to registry.
- To open relevant files according to record keeping regulations.
- To keep record of movement of files according to laid down procedures
- To trace, locate and retrieves movement files when needed by officers.
- To receive and register all official documents brought in the registry.
- To arrange documents and files in ranking or cabinets in the registry.
- To file documents in the appropriate files.
- To record and arrange efficient and timely dispatch of all correspondence.

Report to: Chief Foundry Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- To make molds of simple castings.
- To operate foundry equipment and machinery.
- To pour molten metal into mold for casting.
- To operate and control melting furnaces.
- To mould and assemble intricate casting.
- Form four (IV) education with Trade Test Grade III or level I in that Craft.
Report to: Chief Supply Officer

- To check goods against GRN before acceptance for storage.
- To keep complete, accurate and up to date records of stock movements of all items in the store.
- To keep stores and stocks in appropriate locations in good condition to minimize loss, obsolescence or damage.
- To ensure cleanliness and economy in utilization of storage spaces.
- To organize, supervise and control the purchasing functions and activities both locally and international.
- To maintain proper records of purchasing section to endure easy accessibility to past and present information on the activities of the section.
- To compute and determine the average stock consumption rates which will assist in assessing adequacy of stocks in given period.
- In cooperation with user departments assist initiation of the procurement process.
- To determine the purchase cost of materials by taking into consideration all costs embodied in procurement.
- In collaboration with the financial/ cost accounting division ascertain the value of stock balance to be incorporated in the final accounts as and when required, especially at the year end.

ASSISTANT MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN (Mechanical) III
Report to: Chief Works Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- To operate machine tools such as lather, milling boring, grinding, drilling and gear cutting machines.
- To calculate and set special machine tool operations e.g gear generation setting parameters and numerical control machines programming.
- To assist junior Artisans in the interpretation of complex manufacturing engineering drawings.
- To identify machine tool malfunction for proper reporting.
- To undertake safety measures of production personnel machine tools material handling and other facilities.

A
holder of FTC/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from recognized
institution. The incumbent must have good passes in workshop Technology,
production Technology and Machine element subject.
ASSISTANT PLANT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (Electrical) III -1 POST
Reports to: Chief Maintenance Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- To use test instruments for measuring parameters such as voltage, current resistance and frequency.
- To follow instruction manuals to perform preventive maintenance schedules on plants & Machinery.
- To carry out simple plant repairs.
- To conduct simple fault diagnosis in plants and equipment breakdowns.
- To carry out routine maintenance of plants and equipments breakdown.
- To prepare weekly job loading and ensure timely completion of maintenance installation works.

SALES ASSISTANT II -1 POST
A. Reports to: Sales Officer
B. Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Solicits new job orders/ customers to achieve the assigned sales quota.
(ii) Receives customers and processing their needs/ orders.
(iii) Listens to customer requirements and presenting appropriately to make a sale.
(iv) Maintains and developing relationships with existing customers in person and via telephone calls and e-mails.
(v) Arranges displaying goods and information in TATC’s shops.
(vi) Follow up customer’s complaints and advice accordingly.
(vii) Prepares monthly and quarterly reports on sales
C. Qualifications
A holder of Diploma in Business Administration- Marketing.
FOUNDRYMAN II – 1 POST
A. Reports to: Workshop Foreman
B. Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Operates melting furnace and charge preparation.
(ii) Operates shot blasting machine and other fettling duties.
(iii) Instructs Foundry man of lower grade in foundry shop practice.
(iv) Prepares sand, mould and core and should be able to operates sand
(v) preparation machine/equipments
C. Qualifications
Form IV education with Trade Test grade I, plus six (6) years working
experience in that grade in a reputable foundry. Knowledge in melting
point temperatures and color code will be an added advantage.
ASSISTANT WELDER II – 1 POST
A.Report to: Workshop Foreman Fabrication
B. Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Fabricates and welds special materials such as armored plates, stainless steel aluminum and copper
(ii) To inspect and recognize defects’ on work done by junior welders.
(iii) To identify workshop machines malfunctions and reports to Foreman.
(iv) Prepares and layout work pieces which requires special attention and accuracy before welding for junior welders.
C. Qualifications
Form IV education with Trade Test Grade II and working experience of at
least three (3) years in a reputable organization. Knowledge of welding
nonferrous materials like aluminum is an added advantage.
FITTER TURNER II – 2 POSTS
A. Report to: Workshop Foreman Machineshop

(i) Operates various machine tools and equipment’s in the workshop such as gear hobber, bevel gear generator, gear shaper etc.
(ii) Operates sophisticated machine tools such as CNC machines under supervision.
(iii) Design and supervises the manufacture of simple fixtures, jigs and tools for the job in hand.
(iv) Performs simple calculations required for setting up gear
machines, differential indexing head, screw cutting taper turning, etc
C. Qualifications
Form IV education with Trade Test Grade I in Fitter/ Turner plus six
(6) years of working experience as Fitter/Turner in a reputable
Organization.
SUPPLIES CLERK II – 1 POST
A. Reports to: Supplies Officer
B. Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Continuous updating of the stores ledgers.
(ii) Perpetual invertorization of stocks.
(iii) Participation in periodic i.e Semiannual/annual stock takings.
(iv) Marshalling of goods’ to respective storage places or customers.

ACCOUNTS TECHNICIAN II- 1POST
- A. Report to: Senior Accountant
B. Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Preparation of payment vouchers, journal vouchers, cheques, receipts and any other source of documents.
(ii) Assist in maintaining proper books of accounts and keeping off all records pertaining to income and expenditure.
(iii) Paty cash management and ensuring reimbursement is timely and accurately done.
(iv) Assisting on cash banking and cash office duties.
(v) Safe keep accounting documents and registers
(vi) Assist in all financial and accounting operations of the accounts department.
(vii) Performs any other official duties as assigned by supervisors.
C. Qualifications
Form IV education with NBAA Accounting Technician Certificate Level II
(ATEC II) plus at least three (3) years working experience in a
reputable firm.
PERSONAL SECRETARY III-2 POSTS
A. Reports to: Administrative Officer
B. Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Types letters, minutes, circulars and other documents required for the day to day running of the Centre’s affairs.
(ii) Receives telephone calls and book outgoing telephones as required.
(iii) Handles incoming mails with personal attention of the officer and
ensure that mails and any related correspondences are well managed and
delivered personally to the intended officer.
(iv) Follows up outstanding correspondences.
(v) Receives visitors, ascertain the nature of their business and relay information to the boss concerned.
(vi) Answers routine correspondence such as acknowledgements and sending out reminders.
(vii) Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

in English and Kiswahili plus Basic Technician Certificate in
Secretarial Studies from a recognized Institution with a typing speed of

office practice stage II, English or Kiswahili shorthand speed of 80

- To instructs junior welders.
- To inspect and recognize defects on work done by junior welders.
- To identify machine malfunction and reports to Foreman.
- Prepares work pieces which requires special attention before welding for junior artisans.
Qualifications
- Form IV education with Trade Test Grade II or CBET Level II in a relevant field
ASSISTANT SPRAY PAINTER II – 3 POSTS
Reports to: Chief Works Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- To do panel beating and gas welding for finishing or repair.
- To spray paints, first and finish coat without close supervision.
- To paint special coats for special application.
- Up hold industrial safety.

ASSISTANT FITTER MECHANICS II- 2 POSTS
Reports to: Chief Maintenance Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- Fault finding and rectifying plants & equipment.
- Assemble and disassemble mechanical systems.
- Drilling, tapping and hand reaming new holes during assembly of mechanical parts.
- Re-threading or re-tapping of bolts and nut.
- Identification of worn out parts by proper use of measuring instruments.
- Scraping, lapping and fitting shell bearings and bushes in specified fields i.e.
- Grinding and lapping of valve seats.
- Servicing and replacing injector nozzles, injector pumps and to reset timing.
- To do simple turning of pins, bushes, washers, bolts etc.
- To do simple arc welding and gas welding including brazing.
- To do shaping of parts of simple design.
- To work using simple drawings.

ASSISTANT AUTO ELECTRICIAN II – 2 POST
Reports to: Chief Maintenance Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts in-process inspection and quality of products and Production processes and work in progress.
- Performs acceptance testing on machine tools.
- Conducts reliability analysis, evaluation and engineering value analysis of new products.
- Tests and evaluates prototype engineering system.
- Conducts quality improvement programmers in order to improve work practice, product and services quality.
- Collaborates adequate Quality Control Technicians on effective use of equipment, both in the laboratories and test equipment and advice on safety and health consideration.

ASSISTANT PLUMBER II -1 POST

ASSISTANT MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANICS II – 3 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities
- Management of iteration works, rehabilitation or redevelopment
- Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly projects reports and sequence of operations
Qualifications
- Form IV education with Trade Test Grade II or CBET Level II in Motor Vehicle Mechanics
