Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Underground Shaft Maintenance are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.
POSITION:Fitter at Bulyanhulu Gold Mine
Reporting to: Engineering Supervisor
Work Schedule: 7 Days Day Shift / 7 Days Night Shift / 7 Days Off
Duration: Permanent
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and maintain the Scamont pumps, Warman pumps, mono-pumps , conveyor belts and rock breakers;
- Control the PH by operating lime dosing system safely in accordance to Bulyanhulu procedures;
- Efficiently and effectively perform mechanical maintenance activities in accordance with regulation as required by the shaft maintenance controls and to ensure compliance at all time;
- Ability to conduct troubleshooting to the hydraulic system
- Ability to conduct front end and back end rope cut to the winder.
- Understand dynamic test to the winder
- Ability to set brake air gap to the winder
- Ability to work to the height / open hole.
- Ability to change Ammonia to the plant.
- Oil filter change and oil top up to the plant
- Change and balance fridge plant motor
- Ability to perform repair on CCT fan gear box.
- Manage to service compressor intercooler.
- Manage to change cooling tower spay nozzles
- Ability to change compressor cooling tower fans
- Ability to perform troubleshooting to the compressor dosing system in safe way
- Manage to inspect overhead crane structures
- Manage to inspect and repair overhead crane rope attachments
- Ability to conduct mechanical maintenance activities in accordance to OHSA regulations in respect of the ammonia plant
- Inspection of equipment as per required safety measurements and standards
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ordinary level certificate – Form IV and above level
- Trade’s qualified as Fitter (FTC,IMMT&VETA)
- Valid driving license
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 3 years’ experience as Fitter in underground mining industry
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out mechanical repair and preventative maintenance to maintain Process Plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve production and cost targets.
- Interpretation, access and reading of job specifications and relevant information
- Ensuring that the selection of materials for repairs, replacements and inspection comply with the required standards.
- Correct selection of hand power tools hand, welding equipment, thermal cutting equipment and thermal heating equipment and safety equipment for safe use.
- Understanding of engineering and structural drawings, interpreting sketches and drawings application of measuring equipment, marking, welding terms, codes and symbols and cutting tools
- Using oxy acetylene welding & cutting, thermal gouging and thermal heating.
- Interpretation of materials safety data sheets (MSDS)
- Planning of the logical sequence of welding operations
- Completion of basic welding, heating and cutting job cards/ work orders, work permit
- Carry out fabrication work and corrective maintenance to improve equipment availability, reliability, safety and functionality.
- Ensure that maintenance practices result in maximum mill availability. Meeting or exceeding planned mill availability is a Key Performance Indicator.
- Assist other mechanical tradesmen in maintenance work as required.
- Complete assigned work in a timely manner with minimum supervision and to an internationally acceptable standard.
- Ensure First Line leader and all stakeholders are kept informed on equipment availability status.
- Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills, develop full potential and assume increasing accountability.
- Under the direction of the First Line leader, provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experience personnel.
- Follow Safe Work Procedures and other maintenance procedures.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the First Line leader within your capacity without jeopardizing Health and safety.

POSITION;Rigger at Bulyanhulu Gold Mine
Reporting to: Engineering Supervisor
Work Schedule: 7 Days Day Shift / 7 Days Night Shift / 7 Days Off
Duration: Permanent
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to distinguish type of lifting equipment’s and uses
- Must know how to inspect wire rope and fiber sling for damage
- Ability to prepare and cut front end and back end of the winder ropes.
- Winder rope inspection, measurement and greasing
- Ability to change winder rope O/H crane rope and rope maintenance.
- Inspect and test lifting equipment e.g. chain block lever hoist and sling.
- To perform load test to the O/H crane and mobile crane
- To perform winder rope daily inspection and To inspect winder rope cross over
- To assist on winder rope Electoral magnetic Test
- Ability to test rigging to comply with mine safety and reliability policies
- Ability to attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving by using hand and power tools
- Assists in layout and measuring of materials for installation
- Assist operators, with maintaining clearance while lifts are being conducted
- Ability to retrieve all necessary lifting gear on a daily basis, from lifting container store to support the day’s specific activity
- Assists in staging materials and necessary tools to execute each work activity
- Performing of lifting tasks, contingent on the level of experience and guidance / direction from the maintenance team
- Responsible to signal and verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting of loads and moving of loads
- Control the movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or through confined spaces
- Ability to attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beamsceilings and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps
- Ability to attach loads with grappling devices such as loops, wires, chains and ropes to crane hook

POSITION:Geological Technician at Bulyanhulu Gold Mine
Reporting to: Senior Project Geologist
Work Schedule: 7 Days Day Shift/ 7 Days Night Shift / 7 Days Day Off
Duration: 2 Years
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all documented Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, and ensure safe working environment; every person going home safe and healthy every day
- Completing inspections (prior drill site inspections, drill site inspection and drill site closure inspection), inspect drill sites available for drilling.
- Liaise with mining, electrical and ventilation supervisors for services require prior drill rig move to the new site.
- Ensure grade control face samples are delivered to the laboratory in a timely manner, sample submission forms are complete and accurate, samples are clearly labelled and in correct order, and QAQC samples are present according to procedure.
- Ensure haul truck operators acknowledge the correct stockpile dumping location of each truck load all the time to avoid ore loss/dilution
- Completing daily drilling logistics (working crew at work on time, safety gear and other consumables).
- Ensure an appropriate and sufficient stock of drilling program and safety consumables are available at all times
- Carrying out face sampling, core marking and orientation, drill core sampling, geological measurements, sample processing, dispatch and storage of drilling samples;
- Ensure the drill core samples are collected in accordance with the SOP including recording of all required information and routine quality assurance and quality control practices Good sample dispatch and reconciliation
- Ensure samples are taken / prepared to the highest standard prior to dispatch for analysis (avoid contamination, mixing and missing samples).
- Ensure the timely delivery of accurate geological data, knowledge, reports and documents, including daily and weekly reports.
- Contribute to the appropriate business outcomes by ensuring the timely delivery of accurate geological data, Good sample quality’ Good core recovery (reporting all irregularities to the management) Proper data entry and filing system
- Deliver timely peer and management feedback
- Perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the Mine Geologist and assist all surface drilling tasks (brownfield) as may be required.
