IPP is a private owned group of companies founded by Dr. Reginald A. Mengi. The origins of the IPP group of companies trace back to the early 1980’s.
After returning from the UK as a qualified Chartered Accountant, Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales, Dr. Reginald Mengi joined the audit firm of Cooper Brothers (later Coopers and Lybrand and now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) where he rose to become its Managing Partner and Chairman. However, Dr Mengi always felt that his calling was in private business so he started an enterprise assembling ball point pens in his living room and selling them to various retailers and wholesalers. One year later, this enterprise had grown to the extent that Dr Mengi was forced to seek out factory premises.

Several years later Dr Mengi left Coopers and Lybrand to concentrate on the IPP Group.
Several decades later IPP Group of Companies has expanded and diversified to become one of the largest privately-owned industrial establishments in East Africa providing direct employment for over 3,000 persons and indirect employment for over 10,000. Our Group has remained committed to producing goods and services with internationally accepted standards at affordable prices. IPP group considers our employees to be the cornerstone of our success and we are committed to not only receiving value from them but also delivering value to them. With this in mind, IPP group systematically implements a
group wide system aimed at fostering and inspiring work spaces which enable employees to fulfill their full potential.
Our Group’s success is evidenced by our market leadership in the sectors which we operate. The IPP group business model adopts the triple bottom line accounting ethos i.e. profit, people and planet and as a corporate citizen we take our social responsibilities very serious. Indeed, the IPP group and its Executive Chairman have pioneered initiatives in areas such as: protection and conservation of the environment; poverty eradication and economic empowerment particularly for the youth and women; and providing assistance to persons with disabilities.
