Position Summary
IHI
is looking for a Statistician to work with IHI research groups in
designing, planning, and analyzing scientific projects within the
KIULARCO, the existing research platform of the Kilombero and Ulanga
antiretroviral cohort nested within St Francis referral hospital (SFRH)
in Ifakara.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with IHI research groups in the design, planning, and analysis of scientific projects within the KIULARCO.
•
Provide support the core data management facilities in the definition,
set-up and description of analysis tables as well as data queries for
quality control.
• Contribution to the ongoing development and operation of the KIULARCO reporting tools
• Processing of various short data analysis requests.
• Assist with other projects at IHI based on discussions with the project leader or head of thematic unit.
• Attend all compulsory cohort and scientific meetings at Ifakara Health Institute (IHI).
• Contribution in planning, coordination and performance of research activities/studies organised by IHI and other partners.
Qualification and Experience
• A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Epidemiology or Statistics or related field.
Skills and Competencies
• Able to adhere to IHI core values, Integrity, Transparence, responsibility, Respect and initiative.
• Self-motivated and team building.
• Interest in TB/HIV.
• Good programming skills in Stata (preferred) or SAS. Proficient knowledge of data management procedures.
• Very good communication skills; enjoys to closely collaborate in small teams. Open to discuss and implement new developments.
• Flexible to collaborate in a complex project and to manage.

IHI will be cnducting a study on application of malaria reactive community-based testing and Response, A community-based and integrated strategy to reduce Malaria disease burden (ACORBISREM).
Field interviewers will be required to conduct field interviews, explaining nature, risk and benefits of study, ensuring informed consent and maintaining client record and case report forms. Assist in collecting, compiling information and keying them into the computer data base.
Duties and Responsibilities • Participate in research study as per research protocol and SOPs.
• To insure protection, right, safety and wellbeing of study participants.
• Take blood and other specimens and save as liaison with the laboratory.
• To provide culturally appropriate health education on topics related to malaria.
• To ensure that all study related forms are properly and duly completed according to SOPs.
• To communicate with other study staffs and participate in regular meetings as per scheduled provided.
• To maintain cordial relationships with the health centre, community in relation to IHI staffs and IHI a general.
• Perform any other task that the supervisor may reasonably require from time to time.
Qualification and Experience
• Form IV/VI or certificate/Diploma in social science or any related field.
• Prior field/research experience.
Skills and Competencies
• Ability to use tablet for data collection.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision but also within a team.
• Good/Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to details.
