In this context AMGC is seeking for:-
JOB TITLE: Chemist/Geochemist for Analytical Geochemistry
A qualified chemist/geochemist for setting up and running the geochemical and environmental laboratory which is equipped with XRF, AAS, ICP and Fire Assay. The candidate is also has to work in the Analytical Finger Printing (AFP) laboratory using laser-ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA-ICP-MS) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
Tasks and responsibilities
  • The chemist/geochemist will run the above mentioned analytical equipment and service it to the extent possible for a well-trained user.
  • The chemist/geochemist has the following tasks:
  • Receive, record and analyse geological and other types of samples from clients
  • Record, interpret and report results to the client
  • Knowledge of geochemistry and analysis of geological materials
  • Knowledge of Environmental analysis
  • Be responsible for running the above mentioned analytical equipment to produce analytical data necessary for the AFP;
  • Check the analytical quality of the obtained results;
  • Perform adaption of the used methods if necessary;
  • Support the development of additional applications of the equipment within the framework of the AMGC service portfolio;
  • Perform the basic technical service for the above mentioned equipment;
  • Organize technical support by the equipment manufacturer if necessary
Required qualification
The successful applicant should demonstrate the following:
  • Educated to BSc level at an internationally recognized university in Chemistry and/or geochemistry; MSc level will be an added advantage
  • More than 3 years of relevant practical work experience (including the application and development of modern instrumental analytical methods preferably in geological laboratories)
  • Experience in mineralogy, inorganic instrumental analytical chemistry or chemometrics would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Environmental analysis
  • Working on AAS, ICP and XRF equipment will give an added advantage
Required skills
  • The successful applicant should demonstrate the following:
  • Fluency (written and oral) in English;
  • Expert knowledge of standard office software
  • (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) will be expected,
  • Positive attitude towards learning and being trained by a workmates and experts.
  • High level of personal accountability and sense of responsibility.

JOB TITLE: Ceramic Decorator / Designer
A qualified artist /ceramic decorator responsible for decorating products like tableware, tiles and ornaments by the use of various range of styles, depending on current fashions and the type of object they are decorating as per clients orders. The candidate is also expected to have experience in working with screen printing machines.
Tasks and responsibilities
  • Apply coatings, such as paint, ink, or lacquer, to protect or decorate workpiece surfaces, using spray guns, pens, or brushes.
  • Examine finished surfaces of workpieces to verify conformance to specifications; then retouch any defective areas.
  • Immerse workpieces into coating materials for specified times.
  • Read job orders and inspect workpieces to determine work procedures and materials required.
  • Rinse, drain, or wipe coated workpieces to remove excess coating material or to facilitate setting of finish coats on workpieces.
  • Select and mix ingredients to prepare coating substances according to specifications, using paddles or mechanical mixers.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment, using solvents, brushes, and rags.
  • Clean surfaces of workpieces in preparation for coating, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, steam, sandpaper, or cloth.
  • Conceal blemishes in workpieces, such as nicks and dents, using fillers such as putty.
  • Cut out sections in surfaces of materials to be inlaid with decorative pieces, using patterns and knives or scissors.
Required qualification
The successful applicant should demonstrate the following:
  • Educated to National Technical Awards (NTA)
  • Level 5 (diploma level) and above in Arts and crafting at an internationally recognized college or university;
  • More than 1 years of relevant work experience
Required skills
The successful applicant should demonstrate the following:
  • Fluency (written and oral) in English;
  • Expert knowledge on Photoshop, and other digital designing Programmes will be expected to have steady hands.
  • Good eyesight and hand-to-eye co-ordination.
  • A strong sense of design and colour.
  • To be able to concentrate on repetitive work for long periods of time.
  • To be patient and careful.
  • To work accurately and pay attention to detail.  To have artistic skill for freehand painting.
