Position: Direct Giving Field Coordinator
Job Description
One Acre Fund is looking for an exceptional professional with prior
field experience to help run an exciting and innovative new pilot
program in Tanzania. The pilot will test the impact and logistics of
distributing a free bundle of productive products to poor households in
the Singida region of Tanzania, designed to increase income and improve
health outcomes. Example interventions may include agricultural inputs,
hybrid chickens, cook stoves, solar lamps, malaria bed nets, and
nutritional supplements, in addition to training on each product. This
is a unique opportunity for a qualified professional to participate in
testing and learning from new approaches to development work that could
potentially create significant amounts of impact for poor households.
The Field Coordinator will work closely with the Field Operations
Specialist and other members of a field team on the planning and
execution of various field-based trials and “dry runs” leading up to a
full Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) in late 2019. These trials and
dry runs will be crucial learning opportunities for the successful
execution of the RCT. The Field Coordinator will also be responsible for
the management and mentorship of 5-10 Field Officers.
Specific Responsibilities
I. General Coordination of Direct Giving Field Activities
- Manage simultaneous work steams while maintaining flexibility to challenges and feedback
- Create and update weekly work plan/calendar for field activities in coordination with the Field Execution Specialist
- Prepare high-quality, thorough weekly check-in document for line manager
- Draft professional analytical reports as needed, within 5 days of receiving a request, and with a focus on actionable recommendations and few grammatical/spelling errors
- Demonstrate problem-solving ability by adjusting plans and deliverables quickly to feedback and challenges
- Clearly and proactively communicate project updates and challenges to line manager as needed
- Adopts an attitude of humble service, interacts with all clients and stakeholders with humility, respect, and patience
- Proactively asks for feedback, and demonstrates ability to incorporate feedback
- Dissents in a constructive fashion and builds bridges to resolve conflicts
- Contribute to the execution of other tasks and work streams as needed and directed by the Field Operations Specialist /Direct Giving leadership
II. Field-based Trials and Dry Runs
- In collaboration with the Field Execution Specialist, ensure all trials and dry runs are executed successfully and in accordance with the field calendar
- Contribute to high quality and accurate data collection for all trials and dry runs
- Ensure strict adherence to controls that ensure all products tested and distributed during trials and dry runs are used appropriately and cost-effectively
- Coordinate delivery of products from the warehouse to communities on delivery days
- Ensure safe and secure storage of products at all times
- Liaise with local authorities for all activities to ensure strict adherence to all laws and regulations
III. Randomized Controlled Trials
- Ensure all households are registered only once via smartphone/CommCare
- Ensure strict adherence to controls to ensure that all products distributed during the RCT are done so appropriately and cost-effectively, and without fraud or misuse
- Contribute to the planning and execution of all product deliveries
- Oversee the implementation of risk management controls by Field Officers and Warehouse staff at all times, and ensure cost-effective and appropriate use of Direct Giving Pilot resources
- Organize community sensitization and training events for products
- Liaise with local authorities for all activities to ensure strict adherence to all laws and regulations
- Train, supervise, and mentor 5-10 Field Officers, ensuring high-quality execution of tasks and appropriate prioritization of work
- Conduct weekly meetings/check-ins with the Field Officers:
- Update agenda at least 24 hours before meetings
- Focus meeting topics on updates and challenges with clear decisions/actions needed

Qualification
We are seeking a candidate with strong work experience and a strong educational experience. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:
- University graduate (mandatory), any field
- Minimum three years practical work experience
- Project management
- Writing and/or facilitating trainings for field-based staff
- Report writing
- Comfort and sensitivity working in multicultural environment
- Proven ability to teach/mentor others
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Fluency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Gmail
- Integrity in use of resources
- Ability and flexibility to live and work in Singida, and travel to other regions of Tanzania when necessary
