Position: Assistant General Manager
Assistant GM : Lodge Operations for Chuini in Zanzibar
Reports to General Manager
Responsible for F&B / Kitchen, Housekeeping, FO and Lodge Maintenance
Responsible for F&B / Kitchen, Housekeeping, FO and Lodge Maintenance
Part of the Leadership team with the GM, assuming General Management
responsibility and being the “face of the Lodge” at times when the GM is
not there, including: running morning meetings, handling guest issues and planning the day’s activities for all departments
Key Responsibilities:
• To communicate regularly and form an effective collaborative team with GM and
Assistant GM
• To implement effective leadership practices within your team, mentoring and improving
• To implement effective leadership practices within your team, mentoring and improving
standards across your areas of responsibility for increased performance, while also
listening and engaging your team members to ensure respect and motivation
• Functional responsibilities, across all departments in lodge portfolio:
o Ensure 5 star service standards are understood and implemented consistently
across all departments

o Oversee the Food & Beverage service to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted
service
o Working with team to ensure the effective management of stock as well as
expense control and reporting across all departments
o Working with full team to effectively manage their performance, development
and discipline where necessary
o Ensure all legal requirements and licenses are up to date and appropriate
o Work with FO to develop and maintain best customer experience at check in and
check out, as well as to ensure effective administrative and reporting habits are in
place
o Work with FO to ensure effective relationship and clarity of roles with HO team in
relation to all reservations processes
Monthly Reporting requirements
• Monthly F&B costing reports
• Departmental profitability reports (departmental expenses in relation to lodge revenue)
• Manpower report (People success stories, issues to be aware of, discipline actioned)
These should report the facts of the above but should also include analysis and interpretation,
o Work with FO to develop and maintain best customer experience at check in and
check out, as well as to ensure effective administrative and reporting habits are in
place
